I've been coming to Alimandi since 1966. I might be prejudice but I still marvel at the wonderful job they have done and continue to do with thier hotels. Alimandi Vaticano is a wonderful hotel with large ,clean and beautiful rooms, great service especially Aldo at the front desk. Great food, and here I'm an expert since I have been a chef for some 35 years. In fact, Pino, the chef at Vaticano does a marvelous job in preparing the buffet breakfast which includes eggs and bacon done crispy by the way.
The house keeping is under the perview of Sandra Alimandi who keeps a constant overview of the hotel and it's needs.
The Alimandi family tradition was started my their mother, Dina, in the mid 50's by renting out rooms in her apartment. The children have worked hard in building up the two hotels and have mantained the mother's tradition of cleanliness and hospitality.
I will be returning to Rome in Sept and they will have my room ready.

The Alimandi has been our Rome Hotel of choice on three occasions - the latest in 2006, when we travelled with Alfredo deBonis, who does cultural and culiinary tours in Italy. The family welcomes you to their charming location - convenient for a Vatican visit, or shopping, etc., and you quickly feel "at home". Breakfast on their rooftop can't be beat - wonderful array of traditional foods that will start your day off in the best possible way! The rooms are spacious, with a/c and nice bathroom amenities ... and the cozy bar is the place where you unwind and share your day's outings. Whether it's your first or repeat visit to the Eternal City, you'll feel well-cared for with this warm family! (And don't miss lunch down the street at Guilio's!) Joan and Frank McCann

The family atmosphere of the Hotel Alimandi is truly the characteristic that distinguishes it as the place to stay when visiting Rome, Italy and especially Saint Peter's and the Vatican Museum.
My wife and I have been guests of the Alimandi Family since 1969 when we spent that summer on an extended, 2 month honeymoon in Europe visiting Italy, Austria, Lichtenstein, Switzerland, France and Spain. I must say that the highlight of our journey was the time that we spent in Rome and at the Hotel
Alimandi having made life-time friends with the 3 Alimandi brothers: Paolo, Enrico and Luigi.
Actually, we ceelebrated the American landing on the moon at the Hotel Alimandi on the night of July 21, 1969 with Asti Spumante and biscotti.
We have returned to Rome and to the Hotel Alimandi on 12 different occasions since 1969 including the Christmas and New Year's and Easter holidays. Each time, we thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance of Rome and the Hotel Alimandi!
My wife and I are definitely looking forward to our visit to Rome and the Hotel Alimandi during the summer of 2008!

This was one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at throughout all our travels. It was the people who owned the hotel that made it all the more amazing-- the Alimandi family, especially Grazia. Grazia helped us tremendously every night on where to go, what to do, tips to get into the Vatican when the line is shorter, and places to eat. The amenities in the hotel were great. Everything was very clean, the bathroom was always stocked, the rooms were quiet, and the price was good for Italy. Book directly with the hotel b/c it's usually less and if you pay in cash it's a 5% discount. Staying at this family hotel beats staying at a huge hotel because of the interactions we had. We even celebrated New Year's Eve with the Alimandi family! We highly recommend the Alimandi hotels!

We stayed at the Alimandi Tunisi (1 block from the Vatican Musuem) for 5 nights before touring Italy to return again for another night. Staff was friendly, professional and spoke English.
Breakfast is served in a lovely sun room on the roof from which you can see the Vatican walls. Breakfast had a nice selection. Rooms are perfectly adequate. Near the metro to get you over to the center of Rome in about 15 minutes.

  • Liked — Comfortable, clean, english speaking staff.
  • Disliked — Room a bit small
