We picked this hotel after we had seen all the good reviews people all over the world had written about Scalinata di Spagna and decided to see for ourselves. We are a family of three with a small child and asked for an extra bed for the baby and there was no problem in getting it.
As we entered the hotel we could see that we had made the right decision on staying there because everything was so shiny and clean from the first step to the last. The receptionist was also very kind and nice to us the entire time of our stay there. We got a room on the first floor with a lovely view of Piazza di Spagna and all its surroundings. In the room there was a big tv with cable , telephone and a big bathroom with shower and tub.
For directions and places to visit in Rome we asked the receptionists and got a lot of helpful answers so they were very kind also.
The position of the hotel is perfect right in the heart of Rome , next to Piazza di Spagna and Fontana di Trevi ; two of Rome's best places to visit so I can say Scalinata Hotel is a piece of heaven on earth.We loved it.

We stayed there only for one night but decided that if ever in Rome again that is the perfect place to stay. The price for the room was not very expensive with breakfast and all taxes included.
Everyone from the hotel was very kind especially the receptionist who also had a great sense of humor. The room we got was on the first floor , a very nice and quiet room which was just what we needed because we were pretty tired that night.
The next day we got up at 11 and asked if we could still serve breakfast and they were king enough to say yes although breakfast is served until 10 o'clock.
For our departure they arranged for a car to take us to the airport.

My mother and i couldn't have been more pleased. Our room was small, but located on the ground floor as we requested, and had a wonderfully updated and sparkling clean bath attached. We just spent one night, following a cruise, but the great location gave us a chance to see lots of Rome without needing taxis. Fabio (who made the original reservation and greeted us on arrival) was very helpful with dinner recommendations for a local trattoria and arranging for a car to the airport in the morning. Beds were comfortable and the roof garden delightful. They even arranged an early buffet breakfast for us so we could make our flight. A great experience. Just one note - there is no lift to the roof garden. The single flight of stairs is an easy climb though and was possible for my elderly mother.

I am surprised about the very diferent critics about this same place. How come, one calls the hotel rooms fithy but a next one states spotless rooms - staying the same month and the same type of room ? How come one calles the breakfeast poor and no attention at all, while a next one states great breakfeast and very sweet girls, very atentive up to preparing individual types of omeletes at wish.. Have been people staying on diferent paralell planets ?
I myself know the area and had a friend make the reservation personaly at the hotel, because of its situation. A perfect joice: . My room was quite small, (actualy most hotel rooms in Rome are small) with a big enough balcony and a great view, especialy at night.
I found the rooms - I have visited several - well cept and clean.
And all the stuff very atentive and friendly. Breakfeast was great.
The one girl L..... very busy but very friendly.
The most important for me was the situation of the hotel. Hardly possible to find a better match for somebody to explore Rome on your own feet.. I would recomend it to anybody, except to people who dont like chating and lively Italians. But why should such person choose to visit Rome in first place ?
