We weren't expecting luxury, and this is a fine little 2/3-star hotel. We had a room with bunks for our kids and it was an okay size. Had quite a good view over piazza. Had very effective fridge in our room.
Breakfast was a little basic and repetitive, but did the business. Staff pleasant and did their job just fine.
Had 5 pizzas in 5 nights and funnily enough the best one was in Pizza Roma, located on ground floor of same building!
In terms of location: can't beat it if you want to be in the heart of a villagy feeling, safe area packed with nice little bars and restaurants. Small local supermarkets really cheap. We were with our two young children and still the area felt very safe. No evidence of crime at all. Yes, loads of grafitti, but seems a general Rome issue to me.
Main Rome problem: getting ripped off with table prices at bars. Shame. Other than that, great place. Loved Colosseum, Piazza Venezia and zoo/park. Buy a 'Roma Pass' at airport: good value as gives you 2 free entries (to major sites) plus free travel for 3 days. Kids under 10 travel free on public transport.
That's it really!
