We were at the Albergo Santa Chiara for Easter. The hotel is located in the historical area almost near everything. Just one block away from the Pantheon in the Piazza Della Rotonda. There are a lot of dining options nearby. I strongly recomend La Sagrestia, a roman restaurant for pizza and pasta and Cul the Sac a wine bar near Piazza Navona.
The rooms for my family, was large, with a separate bedroom quiet and charming. The bathroom was small but confortable. Breakfast was buffet and included in the room rate. The staff is great, specially Federica, since my son forgot a pair of shoes in the room and she kindly sent them to our hotel in Venice, at no charge.
The Santa Chiara is a perfect option in the heart of Rome.

This hotel has a great location and the staff are very accommodating and honest. I left my American money in the safe when we checked out and upon return to pick up our luggage that we had them store for us, they presented me with my money I had left in the room mistakenly. Needless to say, I was very pleased and impressed with the honesty of the staff. The breakfast is very good and the rooms very quite. Overall, this is a wonderful hotel.

This hotel is in a great location, about 2 blocks from a bus stop, and very close to a taxi stand. Lots of nice restaurants in the surrounding area. The room was extremely clean, and the bed was very comfortable. Our only complaint was the service. We asked to change to a quieter room, and that was not a problem, they gave us 3 rooms to look at. But when we decided, the porter simply handed us the key and disappeared. We would have tipped him to help us move our suitcases! We were never told when breakfast was, or where it was--but that was pretty easy to figure out. When we would come back to the room in the evening we had the impression that we were bothering the clerk to ask for our room key. They also did not want to call to make dinner reservations for us. Rome is an expensive city, and we paid a good sum to stay at Albergo Santa Chiara during Easter week. We just expected that there would be a bit more service. Also they advertise wi-fi in the rooms, but our room was too far from the lobby, so we had to go down to the lobby to use it. There was a bar in the lobby sitting area, but there was never anyone there to offer us drinks, so we went out and bought our own bottle of wine, and opened it up in the lobby and used their glasses. And one more thing, we had to hunt someone down in the breakfast room to ask for coffee. Just not what we were expecting when we paid so much to stay there.

I loved staying at the Albergo Santa Chiara. My husband and I stayed for 10 days. Our room was big, king bed and a full bathtub. Federicka was so very helpful, as was the other hotel staff. We did keep our room window open at night, there was some noise, but nothing a little wine could not reslove. It was a perfect location. Walked to almost everything. Took a taxi to the Vatican, Museums and Catacombs. It was steps to the Pantheon and we ate at the best place!! La Sagrestia This family owed pizzeria was upscale, good prices and the best food we found in Rome. Only steps from the hotel. Via del Serminario (road) Next to the Pantheon.

We went to other pizzeria's, but nothing came close to this place. The pizza, mussels, chicken and service was perfect....................you must go!!

The location of this hotel is fantastic. From here we could walk anywhere and we did. You are a straight shot to the bus lines for venturing farther afield. Being right behind the Pantheon puts you right in the center of the historic area. Anything and everything is right outside your door.
The location also presents a bit of a negative. The noise from the street is unbearable. We were there at the end of March and the weather had turned a bit warm. The hotel still had on the heat and the air conditioning would not work. We were in the annex section and as you wandered your way to that building you could feel the heat increase. I complained several times and was told to open my windows. When I did that the noise was incredible and went on all night long. The Pantheon area must be the gathering place for all of the drunks or something. They hooted and yelled constantly. The horse hoofs from the carriages and the sea gulls drove us nuts. We had to close the windows and we burned up all night. I didn't get a good nights sleep the entire stay.
The beds, linens, and towels were really quite nice and of a good quality. Be sure to bring your own hairdryer because the one in the bathroom was a joke. The shower was so tiny that I do not know how a large person could even fit. The toiletries were basic and not of a good quality. You might want to bring your own bath soap and shampoo because I think there was only some kind of bath gel in a tiny bottle.
If you plan to use your computer you better stay elsewhere. They only offer WiFi in the lounge area but it never worked. It costs 5euros per hour block of time. I was able to get on one day in a five day stay. Finally, I just had to walk to the internet cafe behind the Sopra Minerva Church where they charge 10 euros per hour.
The hotel staff was pleasant but just barely. I asked for directions several times and they gave them to us and recommended some restaurants but they really didn't want to be bothered. This is a pretty self service hotel.
The breakfast was plentiful and the hours were very convenient. Nothing overly delicious but plenty to eat. Totally self service...
If you have to pay more than 200euros per night I wouldn't stay here. There are many more options that are nicer for the money.
