“My home when in Rome”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 23, 2013

Before arriving for my 6th stay since 1998 I commented to my husband that the Santa Chiara feels like home. It is so well located on Piazza Della Minerva just steps from the Pantheon and Piazza Navonna. The staff is quite helpful the rooms, although some are
small, are equipped with comfortable beds and adequate air conditioning. The housekeeping staff is friendly and quick to follow up on requests or complaints about an occasional non functioning hair dryer.. The breakfast, while adequate is not very imaginative. It is a good, reliable place to call home while visiting the Eternal City.

Room Tip: There are interior rooms which do not have the traffic noise. There are also some larger corner roo...

Our family of 5 stayed in an apartment at this hotel for 4 nights and found it to be a very central place to explore Rome on foot from. Being an apartment we were luckly enough to have a small roof top terrace which was lovely to sit out on at night time. Of an evening the air was filled with the background noise of a pianist playing at the nearby roof top restaurant. The apartment also had two sleeping areas which provided space for us to spread out. There were a few steps to negotiate in getting to the room but the staff were kind enough to bring our bags to the room. My main issue with the room was that to use the bath/shower was tricky for anyone over 5 feet tall. There was no iron or tea/coffee making facilities in the room. The room and hotel was very clean. We also were surprised at how quiet the location was given it's proximity to attractions.

The hotel is literally around the corner form the Pantheon and a few blocks from the Trevi Fountain.

Room Tip: Apartment 2 has a lovely roof top terrace.

We just got back from Italy and stayed at the Albergo Santa Chiara while in Rome with our 2 teenaged daugthers. We picked the hotel based on reviews on tripadvisor, and in several guidebooks (ricks steves, fodors). The location was great - we walked to everything we wanted to see (Vatican, Colliseum, Forum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps). It literally almost backs up on to the Pantheon! Our rooms were not fancy, but very comfortable and with a good sized bathroom in each. The hotel offers a large continental breakfast each morning in a small restaurant setting and the front desk team was helpful in terms of arranging tours, checking bags and taxis. We would definitely stay there again!

I want to thank the staff for going out of their way to make us happy. The location is amazing! LITTERALLY A WALK TO EVERYTHING. the HOTEL is clean, provides a great free breakfast and free WiFi in all parts of HOTEL. We prearranged our transfer from the airport to the HOTEL thru Albergo Santa Chiara. Our driver was waiting at the terminal for us which made our arrival into Rome smooth at 10:00pm.

We stayed at the Albergo Santa Chiara in early August ever day was 95+ degrees. The evenings were 88 degrees. Our only issue with the HOTEL was our air conditioner was so loud it sounded as if there was a jackhammer in it. We reported the noise and were switched to a different room. the air conditioning in 2nd room did not work at all. we were moved to a third room which was great, clean, had air conditioning that worked with no noise!

This hotel is clean and comfortable, but the service is not very warm. The reception desk and the concierge are willing to help, but you have to really pursue them. The breakfast was very basic, but ok. The service staff at breakfast was also just acceptable. They were efficient, but not friendly. However, the location of the hotel is excellent and the rooms are a decent size, given the fantastic location. I literally did not take a cab anywhere. I walked to the Pantheon (less than one minute), the Colosseum, the Jewish Ghetto, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Borghese Gallery (a bit of a hike), with no problem. This is a great hotel if you don't need hand holding. If you do need a little hand holding, it is still a good bet for the money.

We just returned from a two week vacation in Italy and were fortunate to be able to stay again at this hotel while we were in Rome. I can't say enough about It! The location is wonderful....a few blocks from the Pantheon and walking distance to so many other important sights in Rome. The hotel is tucked away on a street close to shopping and lovely little restaurants. This was the second time we stayed here and both times we had a wonderful room..modern and very spacious. It was a triple and certainly large enough for the three of us. Breakfast was great..lots of choices and helpful staff to attend to you if needed. The front desk staff is amazing!! One of the nice gentleman was also there the last time we had stayed at this hotel. Both times he made us reservations for restaurants as well as museums. He answered questions about everything and was so pleasant and helpful. Everyone who worked there was as well. We have stayed at many hotels in different European cities and this one is definitely a find! We will stay there again when we return to Rome!

I got a great deal on this hotel through Booking.com and had a perfect stay. It's not a fancy hotel, but has an unbeatable location just 2 min from the pantheon, nice service at reception, good internet, and a great breakfast buffet. If you're just looking for a nice, clean, quiet hotel with comfort and good facilities to base your exploration of the city from, then this is your place. I would definitely stay here again.
