Value and location gem!
My husband and I stayed at this hotel for eight nights in late May, early June, 2009. The location is primo - luxe shops during the day, Spanish steps and Villa Borghese nearby, quiet nights, plenty of excellent restaurants, and walking distance to most of the major tourist attractions in the historic city center. We were lucky to get a room with a private terrace (41) which made our accomodations into a suite - a small but comfortable bedroom and our outdoor living space. Breakfast trays were brought up to the terrace each morning - coffee, steamed milk, pastries, yogurt, fruit - and we had wine from the surrounding wine shops al fresco in the afternoon. The hotel was spotless, excellent maid service, good A/C, and the staff was pleasant but unobtrusive. The price was right, and we would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Hotel San Carlo on 5/21-5/25 in room 77, a quadruple with a terrace and loved it! Our room was very comfortable with plenty of closet space, hardwood floors, windows that went from the ceiling to the floor, a loft with two single beds upstairs, a very comfortable bathroom well equiped, and the best part, a beautiful terrace with furniture and plants and a view to the rooftops nearby as well as the church of San Carlo's duomo. We enjoyed the breakfast each day in the lounge, the coffee was wonderful. The location of this hotel is really superior in via della Carroze, a few steps from the Spanish Steps and close to Piazza del Popolo and Fontana di Trevi. This area is beautiful with great restaurants and outdoor cafes. I recommend Edy's for dinner. Just ask the nice lady that is in the front desk every afternoon. All of the staff was very helpful but I especially got impressed by this older lady who I didn't ask her name but who was sooooo helpful in every way. Whether it was recommendations for restaurants, tours, arranging reservations, looking after my mother when we took a day tour to Capri and left her to take a tour to Tivoli. Grazie, grazie, grazie!

This hotel is weel position in the centre of Rome and not far away from many attractions. My bedroom had access to a small and typical terrasse. But I thought the decoration was really outdated. More importantly for me the Airconditionning was noisy thus I had to tun it off and could not sleep well. The inclusive breakfast is really basic in my opinion.
Not a great experience as a concusion even if the Hotel was decent.

Huge room, with an equally large balcony. I have stayed in rooms in Europe that were smaller than the balcony. Location is good but you do need to do a little walking which is fine when you are in rome.
