“Fantastic location and....that's all”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2012

This hotel gets 4 starts from me only for the location (the location is actually 5 stars and the hotel....2 1/2).

As in most of the Rome's city centre hotels, the rooms are insanely small. A single room has about 12 sqm with a small single bed and "view" of the hotel's shaft. The double room is still under 20 sqm with queen size bed but once you open the window and you see the Pantheon you'll forget about how uncomfortable and old the room is. There's no elevator and you'll have breakfast in the hotel's bar which it's actually perfect for the view.

The good part is that you are in front of the Pantheon so you can't get better than this if you want to wander around.

If you think about renting a car, consider that the entire area is closed and during the weekends the restrictions are even wider so you would end up parking the car at minimum 1Km away from the hotel. The taxis have no problems getting to the hotel.

The hotel reception is good including the night shift. The rooms are not so clean and the furniture is old.

Considering the above and the price, I'll most probably chose another hotel next time.

Room Tip: There's no good room but if you have big luggage, consider also that there's no elevator.

Great location. We had a family room, two adjoining rooms sharing a bathroom. Clean and functional, but everything was very small - both bedrooms not much bigger than than the beds, and not much room to move around in the bathroom (or shower for that matter!). We were told we would have a room with a view, but barely - one tiny window that you had to lean over to see. I'm sure many of the other rooms have better views. Our room faced the square, on the fourth floor, not too noisy. You need to walk up one flight of stairs to get to the tiny and slow elevator. Internet is not free and a bit expensive (2 Euros per hour). Breakfast was just OK, walk across the piazza for some baked goods, eggs and bacon.

Staff was very nice, recommended a great pizza restaurant nearby. Can't say enough about the location, vibrant, central, yet not too noisy and very safe.

The location of this hotel is its best feature - slap bang in the middle of the piazza rotonda set within traditional roman tenements this small hotel directly faces the pantheon. On our second floor front facing room, we opened the windows to an eclipsing view of the pantheon, somewhat beyond articulation! You have to see it for yourself to take in how amazing the view is.

The rooms are small and basic but this is to be expected in a building of this age and is no way a drawback - they are perfectly clean and well equipped. The atmosphere is one of the bes aspects of the hotel. Sitting in your room after a day of sightseeing with the pantheon and the bustle of tourists, resteraunts and street sellers/musicians below is something very special. Of course the front facing rooms are not the quietest in the world, but I think the buzz is a part of the experience.

All the major sightseeing attractions are within a walk able distance. With a fairly gentle/distracted stroll the walking time from the hotel was as follows for us:

Piazza Navona: 5 mins
Campo fiori: 5ish mins
Piazza Venezia: 15 mins
Colosseum: 20 mins
Pallatine: 25 mins
Trevi fountain: 15 mins

There are many lovely restaurants in the immediate area but I can't recommmend enough chianti just along from the Trevi fountain.

Staff are lovely and knowledgeable and reception is open 24 hours. They will hold your bags for you on your last day so you can sightsee/not have to trudge around with your bags before your flight! I realise this is standard for quality hotels but this is a very small hotel with a very personalised service/experience. I can't recommend it enough!

My daughter and I stayed here 3/11/12-3/18/12. and loved it! I am "directionally challenged" so wanted a place that anyone could tell us how to get bact to-perfect! Our view was right across from the Pantheon and directly over the Piazza. We loved being able to hear the street musicians and the crowds- it made us feel connected to the city even when we were resting. You can walt to almost anywhere you want to go from the hotel, and the people at the front desk, especially Simone and Valentina, give excellent directions. If you dont want to walk, the bus stop is close, and there are taxis right next to the Pantheon. The rooms are small, but very clean and comfortable. The WiFi is not free, but it is fast. There are plenty of good places to eat nearby. If you are looking for comfort and convienience, but not luxury, this is your place.

Room Tip: There are only 26 rooms, so I'm not sure any are bad, but it is worth it to ask for a Pantheon V...

When I read the reviews and saw that everyone are highlighting the location, I was afraid that the only quality of this hotel is a location. However I was pleasantly surprised - rooms are practically decorated, newly furnished and very clean (i have to mention that I stayed in the annex part, which is just 2 doors from the main hotel entrance). Staff in the hotel are very nice. Breakfast is served in the restaurant on the piazza in front of Pantheon, so you get to enjoy rare peaceful morning moments in front of this breathtaking sight while munchkin on croissant and coffee. Next to the hotel is also an excellent cafe bar. Great location, and excellent package all together :)

Room Tip: Walls in the annex are a bit thin, so if you are looking for absolute privacy ;) opt for the main bu...

Hotel is small but plenty of room. Location is excellent and we had a great view out our window. I would recommend Hotel Abruzzi to all.

If you are looking for a central location with an excellent staff - you have found your hotel. The rooms are standard European size with a small showers stall. The rooms are clean and the staff is excellent. Go ahead and pay more for the Pantheon view - you may not spend much time in your room, but when you do, it sure is an awesome sight. The location leaves you walking distance to pretty much everything to see in Rome. Great places to eat, shop and have coffee or gelato are less than a 5 min walk ( that includes a supermarket as well). There can be some noise from the square, but nothing to be concerned about.
