I'm surprised about the reviews I'm reading for this place. I actually found it something of a haven in an otherwise suspicious city, hotel-wise. It was a last minute choice for us, & suited our needs adequately. One of my travelling companions suggested it, since he had stayed there before, & I was satisfied with the choice.

It's about a 15 minute walk from the Stazione Termini through a really skiddy area. I didn't feel comfortable walking alone there, especially at night. We had to walk across some tracks & over DOZENS of needles, which was pretty gross.

The hostel itself was decently clean. Two of my companions ended up in the matrimonial suite because all the other rooms were full - lucky them! The other rooms slept 4-6 people to a room. There was one women's washroom with 3 showers which was pretty clean (as clean as you can expect from a hostel). There was a small eating area that was part inside, part outside, which overlooked a bit of a piazza if you craned your neck. Dogs barked 24/7 from the piazza though.

Overall, it was totally worth the 17 Euros pppn we paid. You get what you pay for. I would stay there again.

Turned up to Sunshine house to be told our "confirmed" reservation was no good and we were rudely told we would have to go elsewhere.
It was a relief to be turned away as it looked dirty and we did not feel safe in the building anyway.
Do not under any circumstance book here would be my personal recommendation.

We're so lucky that they didn't honor our paid-in-advance reservations

When my girlfriend and I got to Sunshine House on a very hot and humid Friday afternoon, we were frightened by the vandalized buildings that led to the building. We took the dirty elevator up only to wait in front of their reception desk for close to an hour without anybody showing up to talk to us. Finally, a very rude voice in PA system told us to go downstairs. There, we were told that our booking was no good, and by now we were glad that we would be freed from such a dump. Simona, the lobby receptionist was a bit polite, but she still refused to help us find a new place. We ended up leaving our luggage at Termini while we searched for another hotel in a better part of town. Given the danger, filth, and poor service at Sunshine House, we were glad to pay a little bit more and stay somewhere else. Whatever you do, do not stay at, or in the neighborhood, of Sunshine House. Try Via Nazionale, they have many hotels there and, without advertising for the one where we stayed, the area is safer even at night. Whereas, Sunshine House was scary even at daytime.

I am in Italy at the moment after leaving the so called "Sunshine house".

In short, no water, air-con broken, tv broken and a very rude old man at front desk whom reacts to these issues by shouting.

There are many decent hotels in the area but this is definetly not one of them DO NOT STAY THERE!

Arrived in late evening with 2 young children and confirmed booking in hand to be told there was no reservation. Not fun. Eventually they gave us a more expensive room for one night but we had to treck across Rome to a new (much better) hotel next morning. Lift was filthy. Staff in hotel tried to be helpful but boss who does bookings isn't there. Basically don't book because they are unreliable and building is dirty.
