The hotel is a 10 min walk from the nearest metro stop, but there are buses you can take if you have heavy bags. Quite centrally located though, and is in a quiet street. The room and bathroom were very clean and admittedly they were small, but this is absolutely fine if you just want to use the place as a base for a short stay. Reception and breakfast room staff were nice and polite. Breakfast area is very small and food on offer is basic, but you can have as much as you like. The restaurant 50 yards up the road is very good and packed with the locals, which is always a good sign! Overall, I would recommend this hotel for a short stay outside the crowded centre of the city, but close enough to be convenient.

Be warned there are a few steps up to the reception. There is a really friendly receptionist who told us exactly where to find all the sights and which buses to catch. Breakfast was simple with only toast, crispbreads and jams and chocolate spread but with lovely pots coffee. We had the room right next to reception which was a bit small and the air conditioning was so noisy that we had the choice of cool and awake or slightly warm and asleep, but at least we could have the windows open and the shutters closed. Nice quiet location but quite convenient to a bus stop into town. The buses are a bit bumpy on those cobbled streets!

I stayed here as part of a honeymoon trip through Italy. Our criteria for selecting hotels was budget, cleanliness and accessibity of attractions etc. This didn't disappoint.

We arrived by train into termini station and walked to the Hotel which took about 20 mins.(this turned out to be unneccesary as a bus ran direct from station to end of via Reggio Emilia) Checked in with ease. The man on the desk (manager?) was extremely helpful. He knew we had a short stay and immediately produced maps and gave us ideas for our three days' itineraries, pointing out the must see attractions etc etc.

The room, and the whole hotel was perfectly clean. The chambermaid also doubled as the breakfast server and she was great! Our room was at the back of the hotel and had no view really, local housing and businesses. We slept comfortably with the window open - no noise. The room itself was rreasonably sized and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was clean & adequate.

Breakfast were good. Bread, pastries, jams coffee, juice, cereal.

Bus services at the end of the road (on via nomentana) took us right into the thick of the attractions. Even direct to Vatican. Manager helped again in knowing where to buy tickets and what type to get (a little shop on the main road)

We ate twice locally - much cheaper than in the centre and lovely food.

A short walk to the close by park is a must. Fabulous views over the city. A great place to spend an afternoon out of the bustle and rent a bike for an hour.

At the end of our stay we had to check out in the morning, but our flight wasn't until the evening from Ciampino airport. They happily arranged for a taxi to take us to the airport and also kept our bags until we returned from our last days sightseeing and got our taxi.

This hotel is out of the way if you wanted to be on the door step of the sights. However a short bus drive away for a peaceful nights sleep and cheaper costs are worth it.

((Recommend during peak season that you arrive early at museums and sights to avoid queues. Colloseum is glorious in the morning sun.))

  • Liked — Value. Quiet, out-of-the-way location but handy bus route.

Very polite staff, clean rooms although small-ish. Good breakfast. Couple of major downsides were that rooms near lift were incredibly noisy and we had to ask that they tried to deter people from using it during the night. Walls are thin and we could hear neighbours in their bathrooms...The advice on a couple of websites that they will arrange transport to airports is false. Area is good for cheaper restaurants and very close to bus into city.

The Hotel Kent is small but clean. The employees of the hotel were courteous and kind. The rooms are cleaned daily and fresh sheets and towels are provided daily. It is located near transportation and there are some very nice restaurants in the area. The only complaint I have is the rooms are a bit small but liveable.

  • Liked — the location and the cleanliness
  • Disliked — the size of the rooms quite small
