We stayed here for 3 nights in the first week of October 2005. Found the location quite convenient. close to the metro station. That was the only thing we liked about this place. I'll list our problems-
-No pressure in the shower. complained to the receptionist but nothing happened.
-Tiny shower cubicle where there is no place to keep shower gel/soap. You have to open the shower door and pick up them up from the floor. You can imagine how frustrating it is have a shower here.
-The tiny sachet of shower gel not replaced. Inspite of telling the receptionist they did not replace the shower gel. Was told "sorry,the boss is visiting his mother at the moment." when i called up for the replacements.
-Had asked for a wake up call at 3:00 am as our taxi was to arrive at 3:30. We did not get a call as anticipated. Just did not go to sleep that night because I knew we will not get the wakeup call.

Sincere advice is to Stay away from this place. Do not spoil your Roman holiday.

We stayed 8 days at the Residenza dei Quiriti and overall had a good experience. Don't let your first impression fool you. We were a little worried when we pulled up to the front of the hotel. It's in a very plain building in a fairly quiet neighborhood about 10 minutes walk to the Vatican. Our worries went away when they showed us to our room. It was in a recently opened, new area of the hotel, on the second floor. The room was modern, clean and had a refrigerator. The king size bed was comfortable and the restroom had a bidet. All in all the room was almost first class. Besides being only 10 minutes from the Vatican, you could walk 20 minutes in the other direction and be at the Piazza dei Popola. From there you had all the shopping and restaraunts you could ask for. Of an evening we would stroll along the Cola dei Rienzo with people from the neighborhood and had a tough choice each night trying to decide where to enjoy dinner.
We only dealt with one employee who spoke english. She was helpful in arranging a day trip to Florence.
This isn't a 5 star hotel so you shouldn't expect it to be. It is a good, clean hotel that is well worth the money. It is in the best possible location for seeing all the sights Rome has to offer. The neighborhood seemed safe and if we go back to Rome we will stay there again.

Rooms were nicely decorated -- breakfast was fine.

But the staff could not have been less helpful or welcoming. And the rooms were quite cold even with the heat on. In addition, phone service in the hotel seemed to go in and out.

We were much more comfortable at the Hotel Springhouse (a Best Western) although outside of Rome we prefer the family run hotels and have never had a bad experience with them other than this.

The Hotel Dei Quirit is in the Prati section of Rome, which is a good spot for walking to restaurants, shops and the public transportaion. It is also near the Vatican and the Villa Borghese (a short tram ride). The hotel itself is on the 4th floor of a large building which also houses another pensione and who knows what else. It is clean and it is pretty secure, but is pretty plain and non-descript. Daughters' room was very tight with a double bed. Our master was roomier. Breakfast consisted of a croissant, coffee and juice-period. Can't say I'd highly recommend it, but it's okay. There are a couple of good restaurants in the area (one called Capresea or something like that) and a wonderfulllll shop for chocolates and international foods (more of the first) called Castrone's-GO!
