This hotel had an excellent location, almost opposite an exit to the metro station, which allowed one to rapidly get anywhere in Rome. It was also almost next-door to a mini-supermarket, and there was a variety of (overpriced) restaurants, including a kosher one, nearby. It was also located opposite a pasticceria-gelateria which did gorgeous ice-creams. The area was clearly run-down, with graffiti in the piazza and some derelict shops, but it felt perfectly safe.
The hotel was slightly Fawlty Towers-esque in that there were only 2 main members of staff and the cleaning lady doubled up as the waitress for breakfast. Although small, the room was well-appointed with TV and a remote-controlled air-conditioner so powerful that the room felt like a fridge when it was 30 degrees outside. It had a marble ensuite bathroom with a powerful shower. The staff were friendly and my only problem was the flat batteries in the TV remote, which they replaced.
Breakfast was perfectly adequate and consisted of jam-filled pastries (not really to my taste), brioche, cheese, and coffee.
