I thought I'd write a review on the Royal Santina as my girlfriend and I were moved there for a night as the hotel we had booked in at (Hotel Milani) was not ready for us.

The room was very spacious and comfortable, on the face of it 4-star standard with a good bathroom. However the skirting board was caked with a carpet of dust and clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. The bed and other surfaces were perfectly clean though.

The coffee machine also wasn't working, which was a disappointment, but you don't exactly struggle to find a decent cup of coffee in Rome, so it wasn't a big deal.

Staff were not friendly at all and one member of staff, a smallish, bald man (who I think may have been the manager, but I'm not sure) was unhelpful when I left a shirt in the room. I went back later on in the day when we had moved to Milani and asked if a shirt had been found. I'm sure it was just a case of someone checking the room or the lost property and I was quite willing to go to the seventh floor and check the room myself if necessary, as it was my own fault. He was full of excuses and it definitely appeared that he just couldn't be bothered. We went back the next day and there were no problems.

In the morning, I was woken up at about 6am by construction work on the seventh floor of another building and this went on until about 9am when we left our room. I don't know if staff at the Milani were aware of this work going on when we were given a seventh floor room, but we got a decent night's sleep overall.

The Royal Santina was adequate for one night while Hotel Milani was unavailable. However, I would certainly look elsewhere for a four-star hotel.

Stayed at the hotel with a group of friends over the Wales V Italy Rugby weekend. The hotel is advertised as a 4* but is more like a 3* the rooms are a bit basic with good toiletries and clean towels every day. The breakfast was adequet with croissants meats and Cheeses together with scrambled eggsand suspect Bacon and sausages.
There is major refurbishment going on on the 7th floor. This didnt effect me but some of our party stayed on the 6th floor and were woken by the workmen starting at 7am in the rooms above.
The hotel is in a good location literally 100meters from the rear of the main termini station. Go out of the station turnleft and it is on your right. There are plenty of bars and restaurants in the area and the sightseeing Roma hop on, hop off tourist bus stops right outside the Hotel.

Ideal location immediately beside Termini Station however the hotel was not as advertised on the website. It claims to be 4 star however is more likened to a 2 star. "American Buffet Breakfast" consisted of the usual continental style offerings plus scrambled egg (lukewarm) and bacon (undercooked). I ate in the hotel restaurant (or actually the bar as the restaurant was closed) and the food was awful - main course was stone cold which I returned. Reception staff were brusque - I waited 4 minutes for my room key while the member of staff made a personal call on his mobile. The first room I was given was pretty dismal however I managed to change rooms due to the next door room on the second floor being under construction hence filling the corridor and my room with dust. I stayed in the sister hotel on my last visit which was of a higher standard. Please don't stay here unless you are doing so only for the location.

We actually had a great stay at this hotel compared to some other reviews. We liked our room, the bed was comfortable, the tub/shower was large, we were at the back and there was no city noise at all. We enjoyed the breakfast, one of the biggest and best of the continental breakfasts that we had on our stay throughout different cities in Italy. The front desk staff wasn't the most friendly or most helpful, but no one in Italy seemed to be overly friendly.

The location was great too. It was easy to hop on city transit and make your way anywhere throughout the city. There were also good places to eat nearby.

Overall we really enjoyed our stay here.

I just stood at Royal (?) Santina for three days, to attent a workshop nearby. The hotel is very conveniently located, indeed, a fewsteps from the Rome main train station and hence from the Leonardo Express to/ from the airport.

Reception is more or less OK, but understaffed. Be prepared to queue for a while if several persons check out at the same time. Nothing but perhaps the large entrance hall is royal there ansrather looks medium to low class. My single bed room was small, and only with a shower. Few power plugs (I had to disconnect the TV to connect my laptop).

And, yikes, the aircon was out of order in all the hotel during the 3 days and nights(!) of my stay, while the weather waswarn and heavy. Sheer fun.

WiFi is overcharged, but that is usual in many hotels.

Breakfast buffet was a modest average, nothing exciting there. Usual industrial stuff, for instance when it comes to the scrambled eggs.

I would rate this as a decent well-located 2 stars hotel.
