I thought I'd write a review on the Royal Santina as my girlfriend and I were moved there for a night as the hotel we had booked in at (Hotel Milani) was not ready for us.
The room was very spacious and comfortable, on the face of it 4-star standard with a good bathroom. However the skirting board was caked with a carpet of dust and clearly hadn't been cleaned in months. The bed and other surfaces were perfectly clean though.
The coffee machine also wasn't working, which was a disappointment, but you don't exactly struggle to find a decent cup of coffee in Rome, so it wasn't a big deal.
Staff were not friendly at all and one member of staff, a smallish, bald man (who I think may have been the manager, but I'm not sure) was unhelpful when I left a shirt in the room. I went back later on in the day when we had moved to Milani and asked if a shirt had been found. I'm sure it was just a case of someone checking the room or the lost property and I was quite willing to go to the seventh floor and check the room myself if necessary, as it was my own fault. He was full of excuses and it definitely appeared that he just couldn't be bothered. We went back the next day and there were no problems.
In the morning, I was woken up at about 6am by construction work on the seventh floor of another building and this went on until about 9am when we left our room. I don't know if staff at the Milani were aware of this work going on when we were given a seventh floor room, but we got a decent night's sleep overall.
The Royal Santina was adequate for one night while Hotel Milani was unavailable. However, I would certainly look elsewhere for a four-star hotel.
