I agree with other fellow travelers: this hotel is terrible! I don't know where it got its 4 stars rating from. It's not more than a 1-star place!
My room was very small and definitely looked old. The bathroom was clean but required uergent refurbishment. Breakfast was very poor. Luckily I slept here only one night, checking it late in the evening and checking out at 7.30 a.m. the next day!

As this hotel was booked through the organisation that was arranging the conference I was attending in Rome, I did not have any input in choosing the hotel. When we got to the hotel (which is really quite far out of town), we were told we were being transferred to another hotel in the chain for one night. Not being difficult people, we readily took the taxi that they paid for and were transferred to Hotel Eliseo (from the same Leonardi Hotels chain). It was ok for 4 stars, but more on the 3 stars level.

The following morning we were transported back to the Hermitage, where our room was not yet ready, so we were allowed to leave our luggage behind the reception while we went back into town. When we returned at 11 p.m. and asked if our luggage was moved to our room, the concierge seemed quite amused by the idea that they could actually have placed our luggage in the Room once it had become ready!

Not seeing a remote control for the air conditioning, I called the reception but was told that they had the remote, but I would have to speak with the manager the following morning! So, no alternative but to leave the window opened! Wall paper was also peeling of the walls - Definitely not four star quality.

The bathroom is so small that my legs were almost upto my chin when sitting on the toilet..... The shower head would fall off the hook each time the water was turned off. At breakfast, the coffee was cold, and when one of the guests asked for hot coffee, the waitress became very upset and pushed her trolly against the wall. This was really a scene out of Fawlty Towers!

In short, avoid this hotel if you can, but then again, the others in Rome might not be much better .....

I was at the end of my trip in Italy and Rome was our last stop. I was not expecting much given that I am travelling alone and as a single traveller you always end up with the worst hotel rooms ever even if we pay a surcharge…..
That said my room was so tiny that when I wanted to be able to walk in the room I had to put my luggage on the bed. In the bathroom there were little bugs that were getting out of the shower drain…that I had to cover all the time in order to prevent them to come in the room…. When I saw that I was a little bit discouraged and I asked if I could change room… then it was my second shock….and so much for the empathy and for the hotel employees willing to help you…After that I tried to compose myself, realizing that at the end of the day I was only there to sleep and eat in the morning. There are absolutely no services offered in this hotel other than the breakfast in the morning. Employees are not courteous at all, every time you were asking them something you always felt that you were bothering them….somehow I was happy being there in May at the beginning of the tourist season thinking about those poor tourists that would come in July –August…..The hotel location is not ideal and very far from everything, yes there is a bus station in front the hotel that brings you downtown but it takes at least 30 min to get to Termini station… In conclusion avoid this hotel don't even consider this one for any reasons…

Hotel was quaint and in a quiet, residential area of town yet 15 minutes from all the action. While a bit dated, the rooms were very clean and pleasant. We were able to sleep with our window open as the weather was nice. Breakfast was great with something for everyone and good coffee. Staff was pleasant and helpful, even arranging a pedicure with a local salon. Open air market was a short stroll away and we had lunch at one of the open air places there.

The main street, Via Parioli was nearby with a number of nice restaurants. For a great meal, La Scala is a must! We were the only "non locals" there (always a good sign) and it was so good that we went two nights in a row. Try their buffet- lots of great, real Italian food and the ice cream was fabulous.

Would definitely revisit and recommend this hotel.

My group was staying at this hotel as part of a college study tour on May 18, 2007. While we were touring Rome on our first day there, the cleaning staff broke into our luggage and stole money and other unopened items. The same thing happened to another group leader on Day 2 of our trip. We reported the theft to the manager and found he was not interested in helping us find the person who was in our room, but did give us directions to the local police department. He claimed that he had no idea who was responsible for cleaning which room. Avoid this hotel. A "Do Not Disturb" sign here means "Come in and take whatever you want". I wrote the owner, Dr. Leonardi, thinking that he probably did not know what was going on in his hotel and have received no answer. This is not a respectable hotel. I don't know how they stay in business.
