Hotel reception smelt of damp. Room 205 was the size of a single and should not have been sold as a double bedded room.
The staff were friendly but the room sizes let the hotel down. Breakfast was not great but the view was good. Good location though but I wouldn't go back.

My sister and I stayed at Eurostars Domus Aurea Hotel Rome in May 2006 for 5 days. Although the rooms are a bit small, it did not matter. It was clean and comfortable and the bathroom was spacious. It is close to all amenties and attractions and the area is fairly safe. Staff is very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast!!! I will definately stay at this hotel again...value for money.

We travelled to Rome and stayed in the Domus Aurea for 5 nights. The staff were welcoming and friendly. On the first night they did not have the room that we had booked and put us in a tiny room with probably less than a foot each side of the bed. We had to manoeuvre our suitcases around the passage way in order to get into the bathroom! However, the next day, the staff were kind enough to move us into a bigger room. The beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. The breakfast had a good selection however the juice machine kept running short and resembled water once or twice. When we asked about using the Internet, we were told that the PC works off credit cards and it cost 15 euro an hour whereas the internet point a couple of yards down the road cost cents. The best thing about this hotel is the location as it is minutes from the Termini and all tourist attractions are within walking distance (about 20 mins to Colosseum, 20 mins to Trevi Fountain etc.). We were also around the corner from the La Famiglia Restaurant which served great food and wine, very reasonable prices and quick service!

After the positive reviews for this hotel, I was shocked by my experience there. I checked in to a beautiful lobby, thinking I had made a smart choice. But when I got to the room, I could tell it had no connection to the lobby. I had been travelling Europe for two months, so I was used to small rooms. This one was not only dark and dingy, but was way beyond small. It truly was just about a foot larger than the bed on each side. The bed linens were threadbare, but the room felt a little better when i opened the curtains. The bathroom seemed clean.

I was travelling throughout Europe for a couple months and had to make sure that I booked hotels that had internet connections so that I could work. Domus Aurea's site emphasized in all caps that it had wifi service. When I couldn't find a connection I called the desk, only to be told that it wasn't working, but I might want to try the computer in their lobby. That one didn't have any connection either. The desk clerk sent me down the street to an internet point, where I proceeded to book another hotel, because I could not work without a connection to the net.

I came back and checked out, figuring the sooner I vacated the room the better. The clerk knew why I was checking out, but insisted that he had to charge me for the entire time that I had booked. No compensation or consideration or even a reduced rate of any kind. Not even an apology that they couldnt offer what they advertised.

I understand that I had made the reservation; though on the other hand, the hotel could not provide what I reserved. The lack of consideration or even any kind of apology at all hardly seems like a sign of good service. Four hotels later I ended up with a great room at a cheaper rate at XX Settembre Hotel - one of the positive suprises of my travels. I highly recommend investigating it if you are looking for a hotel in the range and location of the Domus Aurea.

The Domus Aurea seems to be an okay hotel, but there are several other nicer ones for the same price in the area worth investigating if you're looking to be near the Termini area of Rome.

We have recently stayed at the hotel and chose it based on reviews we had read. The hotel proved excellent value for money. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and modern although quite small (this is not so important as very little time spent in them!)

The breakfast was great with a good variety of hot and cold food - cereal, fruit, bread, cakes, meat , cheese, eggs, bacon etc.

The best thing about this hotel was the location - very central. You can walk to Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon. Easy to reach the Vatican by bus.

We flew into Ciampino airport and took the coach directly from the airport to Rome Centre - approx 30 mins, 13 euros return. The Hotel is on the same street literally 4 mins walk - ideal!

Staff were friendly and helpful. We took the advice of a review on this website and went to the restaurant around the corner which was fantastic great food and great value - come out of the hotel, turn left and its the street on the first left, the restaurant is just on the right.

A great value hotel
xxxxxx
