When the reservation was made, it was for a specific accommodation which was paid in advance(3rd or 4th floor with a balcony). When we arrived we were told that "oh thats just a request" despite the contract which was printed! We were placed in a cell like room with no windows and a nonfunctioning shower. The hotel was well aware of this defect in the shower (which resulted in a bathroom flood)but mentioned nothing when placing us in this room. After three days and much anger and angst our room was changed to what we should have had in the 1st place. This room was average at best. Our overall experience was very poor which really put a damper on our 7 day trip to Rome

Management response from fradani, General Manager
(Management representative)
Nov 2, 2009
Dear Guest,
first of all thank you for choosing our hotel.
We are amazed and distressed by your review because the original booking reservation was for a double classic room and also the price was for a double classic room, as it is included in the correspondence and in the proforma invoice. In any case, even if we had not guaranteed a deluxe room with balcony on the 3rd or 4th floor(!), when you arrived, you were homaged with an up grade in a superior room and, after 2 days, you have been moved in a deluxe room with private balcony! Furthermore, during all your stay all our staff has been at your disposal and gave you all the assistance you needed suggesting you tours, monuments and restaurants.
We are really upset for this situation, that through your not true review, has caused us a bad pubblicity, and we hope that you will clarify the matter with your agency.
Kind regards.
The General Manager

We arrived close to midnight. Check in was very quick. We requested a quiet room and got one. The room was nicely furnished and was always made to the same high standard. Shampoos etc… were replaced daily. The people at reception were extremely helpful, especially George who looked after us and recommended very nice restaurants for dinner.

The hotel is only few minutes away from the top of the Spanish steps, and close to the metro station. It is also conveniently located to the other attractions like the Trevi fountain or shops. Gladly recommend it to a friend.

We stayed at the hotel for three days. It has been a very pleasant experience. We were greeted warmly and during all our stay all the staff was kind and helpful. We appreciated very much the suggestions the reception gave us for the tours: the hotel organizes personal tours of the city! The room we checked in was very nice and clean and breakfast was rich and excellent. The hotel is in the center of Rome, walking distance to nearly everything; in any case, if you do not want to walk you can find 2 metro stops very close to the hotel. We really had a fantastic vacation and we surely recommend this hotel!

I am so glad that we decided to stay here! The location of this hotel is fantastic. Virtually at the top of the Spanish steps, a 1 minute walk. You have the 5 star hotels as neighbours...The breakfast was the best in our travels in Italy..Cold cuts, fruit, bacon and eggs, yoghurt, breads, cappucino etc......Just perfect.. Rooms were sparsley decorated but big and in excellent condition. Airconditioning was on all day. The roof top terrace was a bonus, you could easily spend a couple of hours up there and read or sunbake..A big bonus was the FREE internet near reception..Would I stay again. You bet, a great gem of a hotel in beautiful Rome..This hotel should really be up in the top 20 of Rome! Can not speak highly enough of this place. Also if you only have a small amount of luggage you could take the train from FCO to Termini, catch the metro to Spanish steps take the lift up to Via Sistina and walk 1 minute and you are at the hotel. just a small tip, very easy and CHEAP way!

THE PICTURES ON THE INTERNET ARE DEFINATELY MISLEADING! Honestly, I recomend to see your room in person before making a reservation. After an exausting 8 hour flight from the states, we pulled into this hotel hoping for the pictures we saw on the internet; a hotel that had old charm but had modern upgrades. When we firsted walked in front of the hotel we couldn't even find the door because the door man wasn't even present. when we saw the clothes that the doorman was wearing, we presumed that the hotel wasn't in the best shape. The hotel's foyer is the size of a small minivan and all there is is two chairs to sit on. After taking a trip up the TINY elevator, we reached a dark hallway. We saw our room and it looked like a dump. The air conditionar was roaring and we couldn't hear a thing. The carpets were dirty and the entire room was filty, plus our room was so small. After we asked to upgrade our room, we waited 3 hours to see a room of higher quality. while we waited the conceirage went on and on about how it was superior and it was modern. We looked at this "superior" suite and it was far from superior. The room had water stains and it wasn't luxurious at all. The staff was nice, but they didn't really make a great attempt to pleasae us. A fabulous hotel nearby is the Sofitel.

Dear Guest,
first of all thank you for choosing our hotel.
We are sorry for the inconvenieces you had with the room! The hotel room's are under renovation and it may happen, especially during high season, that not all the rooms assigned are new rooms. The hotel is a small boutique hotel with 42 rooms, all different on from the other, and surely not all the rooms are big, but all have sufficient space for a good accomodation!
We really hope to welcome you soon in the future so that you may spend an unforgettable vacation in our new rooms and forget the first bad impression!
Kind regards,
Francesca Consolo
