we stayed in this hotel for 4 nights. it was recommended by a friend who had stayed there 2 years. i was a little sceptical after reading some of the reviews but i need not have worried. we had asked for a quite room when booking so we stayed at the building next door to the main hotel. it was on the 2nd floor and had quiet air conditioning, shutters on the windows, double glazing so was very quiet. we had tv, fridge, safe, hair dryer. the room was spotless. breakfast was in the main hotel which is a 10second walk away. typical continental but adequate. breakfast area is small but there is a large roof terrace to which you can bring your tray. you can also sit here during the day and evening, perfect for after dinner or pre dinner drinks (you can bring your own). staff were very helpful and friendly. location - 5-10 minutes walk from main bus/train/metro station (termini) and 2 minuest from castro pretorio metro. the red (a) and blue (b) line both leave from termine and the blue line from castro pretorio. metro is a cheap and fast way to travel around the city. €4 for a day pass for bus and metro. it can get crowded at rush hour but we could cope with this as we were only on for a few stops. the hotel is in a quiet street but there are plenty of restaurants and bars nearby. we ate at mama angela's 2 nights. our room cost €108 per night for B&B and i thought this was reasonable for the quality of this accomodation in rome. i would recommend taking a guided tour when seeing the colosseum, roman forum and palatine. you can pick up a tour from the front of the colosseum for €22 including entrance tickets.
