We booked last minute a long week end in Rome and our choice has been the Hotel Ariston: their web site is so attractive and we found a discounted rate available for a double room. We did not even expect that much for the rate we paid for! The room was spacious and decorated in modern style. The lounge is trendy and the front desk staff is friendly and professional at the same time. Breakfast was not included in our rate, but we decided to try it for the first day and since the buffet was so rich, we decided to have breakfast there even the day after! Very nice cappucinos! Overall, we had a good experience and will surely book it again for our next stay in Rome!

"Superior" gloomy room (it was impossible to distinguish day from night as the window overlooked a narrow inner courtyard), the bar-fridge was empty, tv channels reception very bad. Poor bathroom furniture, with shower, toilet and a microscopic shelf .
I don't dare to think how an "ECONOMY" room looks like

Having spent a couple of horrible nights in an apparently 5 star hotel The Ariston was recommended to us by a local. At half the price of the previous hotel, it was a most welcome surprise to find this clean, modern, funky and friendly hotel. It is across the road from Termini and as with previous posts it may not be the location of choice, but at only a 15 minute walk through Cavour to the Colloseum and with the metro practically on your doorstop - you can get anywhere in Rome within minutes - there were no complaints from us.

On our last day, because of some errors made by Orbitz.Com, the Hotel Morgana's manager sent us over to Ariston Hotel, which apparently is owned by the same owner. So, if you had read my reviews about Hotel Morgana, you wouldn't be surprised with the rooms in Ariston Hotel. Yet, honestly, I think the receptionist at the Ariston is a tad friendlier than Hotel Morgana. She was helpful. But here are what's bad about it: The room is literally like a box, once we put in our carry-ons, we have no room to walk. It was even smaller than those apartments in Tokyo, Japan. Just TINY.....The TV was a 13 in one. The queen sized bed is really a combined of 2 twin beds and the mattresses are horrible. You could feel the springs are poking you throughout the night. The shower room, although with a nice glass door, is very tiny for even a 5'3" and 110 lbs person -- me. I actually bumped to the wall a few times a got myself a nice bruise as a souvenir.
The location is again, the only reason we didn't just walk out, it's 5 minutes walk from the Termini, it's one blocks down and about 3 blocks left. It has a nicely decorated lounge with nobody in there. And the wifi is 8 euro for 24 hours. Our 99 Euro deal from Orbitz this time did include breakfast, but we had to leave by 630am to catch our train to the airport, and they don't serve breakfast till 7am. All in all, it's just as bad as Hotel Morgana. They both are worse than Motel 6!! And I would never recommend this place to anyone. I don't even mention it in my traveling blog.....

I purchased a hotel stay with breakfast and when I checked in I was told breakfast was an extra charge.

Lots of thefts in the area have occurred so the hotel manager and the security chief decided to take matters into their own hands. After staying in the hotel for 4 nights the hotel staff still could not identify me and decided to treat me -the customer- like a thief by mugging me 1.5 blocks away from the hotel, grabbing me by my belongings (back-pack) and forcing me back to the hotel...

These are the very people who are supposed to show you hospitality!

The hotel location is the only plus. I am sure one can find better customer care and hospitality at a youth hostel. Stay Away!
