This Hotel is magnificient - again it was a family run, equisitely furnished, in the centre of Rome.

The Hotel Office was directly across the street as the Hotel Owners Silvio and Rosella have just purchase a block of apartments and are in the process of refurbishing all floors as an extenstion of the Hotel De Petris. We were placed in Room 410. This room was all that you would expect of Italy and then some. A combination of exquisite style, old fashioned lift (I loved the stairs) - the feeling of just being in the heart of a city full of life, love and history - the Hotel De Petris was a breath of fresh air. The difference between staying at the "famous" hotel brands or such like was the feeling of being part of the city and people itself. This was living the "real Italy" not what you could find in a "chain store type of Hotel arrangement" - so it was my preference. We were within walking, taxi or even bus distance (should we have chosen the bus) from everything we wished to see. Again, it came down to being one of the city's people rather than a visitor.

All aspects of the Hotel's services were outstanding. Breakfast, storage for baggage when heading down to the Amalfi Coast, their patience and assistance with endless questions, or requests.

Their staff, in particular Katia Filice who went beyond her work remit, again became a friend, and whom I made sure was thanked in person - as well as talking to both Silvio and Rosella so they knew they had an exceptional staff member working for them.

The Hotel itself was full of surprises. Home to us in a way that you need when you are so far away from your own - we travelled half way around the world and found a place that we will return to.

Kindness, courtesy, cleanliness, helpfullness and patience are part and parcel of this Hotel. Well deserved to be on a a top list of Hotels.

excellent location near Piazza Barbarini Metro stop and Trevi Fountain; excellent breakfast; nice room, recently remodeled; slight problem in that room 105 tended to get very hot while we where absent from the room, even though it was cool outside.

Just returned from Rome yesterday after staying at the Hotel De Petris. First impression was Reception looked very nice. After checkin we were shown how to put our bags in the "lift". It looks like something from another planet. We were staying in room 418, now that is another story. If thats a double room I would hate to see a single. There was no place to put cases, the bathroom was tiny, you nearly had to climb over the leaking toilet to get in the shower. To plug in a charger we had to upplug the T.V. The walls were very dirty and in dire need of paint. We arrived late and were very tired so we stayed. Next morning, we requested a better room. They seemed to be surprised that we thought the room was unacceptable. When we mentioned the size , they informed us that is was the normal size room in Rome . We were moved to room 214, this was a little bigger but not much. This time we were shown to a different lift, a normal one. I learned after a while the reason we were not shown this lift on arrival is because it does not go to all floors . I am black and blue from the doors of the tiny lift banging into me.I am a normal size person, a larger person would not fit it it. The breakfast was awful.

Small hotel in great location. Walking distance to Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps; near tour bus stop and great small restaurants. Nice continental breakfast on premises. We stayed here for two days prior to meeting cruise ship for Mediterranean cruise. We would definitely come back.

Did a trip to Italy with less than a month to plan. Was referred to the Hotel de Petris by the Italian Wine Merchants in NY. It was a lovely hotel. We stayed in a room across the street in what seemed like an apartment building with some converted hotel rooms. The room was cleaned every day, breakfast was provided across the street and the staff was very helpful. The location was extremely convenient!! If you are traveling from the US you must first realize that you are no longer in the land of big rooms & cars. Everything is small...
