We were in room 405, five floors above Via Rasella, for 13 nights, and it was much quieter than I expected. Everyone on the staff is efficient and friendly. The breakfast is copious: meats, eggs, yogurt, cheese, pastries, fruit, juices, and more; capuccino is made if you ask. There is a new spacious elevator for most floors; we had to use the little one up the stairwell but found it a fun reminder of earlier days. A couple of small problems were promptly fixed. The room was very spacious by Rome standards. If you ask me, any complaints I have read are quite absurd. I paid a lot more than I am used to, but the pleasure and comfort as well as the location made it worth it. The restaurant (Hostaria) 50 feet from the door is so good that you should make reservations if you expect to eat there at night; many people are turned away; excellent and cheap house wines and other items comparable in price to lesser restaurants. There are also two other restaurants to either side that are not bad but not so good. A taxi ride to the hotel with bag charges and tip from the Termini is less than 10 euros, so you can take the fast train to or from from the airport and get there in less than an hour. Maybe we were just lucky, but I have never enjoyed a hotel stay anywhere else as much as this. But watch out for motorcyles everywhere the minute you step outside!

We stayed at the Hotel De Petris in August 08 and upon arrival had the shock of our lives when faced with the antique lift wondering whether it would hold 2 people with their cases. Didn't fancy lugging the cases to the 4th floor so thought we'd risk the lift. After the initial shock the lift became part and parcel of our stay and we laughed our socks off when we got in and out after all 4 of us standing in a row pressed against the side and the wall of the lift. The rooms were smal but okay if you were not spending much time in them. Bathroom had a shower but no bath and was not big enough to swing a mouse let alone a cat. The breakfast was excellent and filled you up for a long day of sightseeing. The hotel was in a great location close to Barberini square where you could catch numerous buses to see all the sights such as St Peters Square and the Vatican. The hotel was within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain, Colosseum and the Spanish Steps. Would deifinately go back to Rome but would probably try anothe hotel just for the experience.

This hotel was a gem. It was clean, the room was incredibly large for Rome standards, had all the necessities including aircon, fridge, good breakfast. It was located very close to the Trevi fountain which we loved. Also, check out Colline Emiliano restaurant nearby for a true Italian meal.

We have just recently stayed in this hotel found it to be comfrtable and clean, but most of all a great location. The hotel is small and if like us you are on the 4th floor you will have to use the tiny lift, which was fun. The rooms are typical City break rooms nothing fancy just clean and serving a purpose. Breakfast was fine typical continental but enjoyable and plenty of it. Staff were freindly and co-operative, had a bit of an issue in paying as the person dealing with me didn't know how to operate the visa gadget, I was happy to call it a day but someone turned up who new how to work the gadget. As mentioned the location is superb, you are 2 mins from the Trevi Fountain, 10mins from Spanish Steps and 2 mins from the underground.
Overall a great little hotel with a great location

The Hotel De Petris was a haven during our stay in Rome. The weather was hot 103 one day and very hot the other three days of our stay. The hotel had wonderful air conditioning, comfortable beds and nice private bathrooms. We had one double and a triple. The triple had two separate rooms and was quite large. The bath was nice but only had a small shower. The double was very small our first night in fact the bed was so short my husbands feet almost hung over the edge and the shower was very compact. We asked for a new room and one with a bath tub. the next day they had us in a very nice room with everything we wanted. The staff was very helpful and spoke English quite well. The breakfast was also very good. The location was a short walk to the trevi fountain and the spanish steps and very close to the bus line and metro perfect location. It was a great place to stay and very reasonable. I highly recommend this hotel. Genevieve Pittsburgh , Pa USA
