My husband and I and our 18 year old son stayed at Hotel Columbia for 4 days. We rented the one 'suite' available in the hotel which gave us a bedroom and bath on one level and a stairway to an enclosed loft area with a second full sized bedroom. Located in a very quiet part of the hotel, away from the main street, each bedroom had it's own flat screen TV with English and Italian cable stations. The first floor had a cute little balcony and a dressing area that included a table/chair and space to spread out suitcases and hang things in a closet. Daily breakfast was included in the price of the room. Breakfast was located on the top floor restaurant/bar with outside and inside dining areas and satisfied everyone and was lovely with plenty to eat in the way of cereals, croissants, pastries, meats, cheeses, coffees, tea, etc. The bar is staffed all day/evening so you can go to the bar anytime and order a drink. Our stay was great, the staff helpful with maps and recommendations. The hotel is very conveniently located -- walk to the Termini train station, the Spanish Steps, the metro train station, etc. Very easy to get around to all the main sites from the hotel. I would recommend for even the pickiest travelers (like my husband who was very satisfied).

As a special 60th birthday treat I booked this hotel for a few days sightseeing in Rome as my husband always wanted to go there. I chose Hotel Columbia because of the consistently good reviews on Tripadvisor and I was not disapointed.
All the staff at this hotel are very friendly and helpful - nothing too much trouble.
Breakfast is continental style with a good selection of pastries, cake, cereals, yogurt, boiled eggs, toast, juices and tea/coffee.
When we arrived we were informed that the hotel had upgraded our room booking at no extra charge and we loved the room. It was very spacious with a definate 'Italian' feel to it - a very large and beautiful chandlier hung over the bed. On the evening of my husbands birthday a member of staff delivered a bottle of wine on ice with a handrwritten card from management wishing him a very good birthday. This was the 'icing on the cake' for him and really made the trip special. I have nothing to complain about regarding this hotel - we had a very pleasant stay there and we do travel quite often and stay in 4/5 star hotels. Hotel Colombia is well placed, about 10 minutes walk from the termini and within walking distance of most of the well known sights although we took the bus to the Vatican.
Rome itself is a wonderful city with so many signts to see. We walked everywhere to all the most famous attractions also took a round trip on the RED open top tour bus which I would recommend - you can hop on/off or stay on for the full tour.
I would recommend thick soled shoes for sightseeing as most of the ground is cobbled and this is hard on your feet ( my feet were so sore). Cafes/restaurants all good - we did not get one bad meal anywhere - all very good.
All in all a very enjoyable and memorable trip for both sightseeing and hotel accommodation.

Excellent location, right near the main train station and underground tube stations. Also walking distance to the Colloseum. The staff are friendly and the hotel is clean. We were initially in a smaller room which was clean and adequate for a city break and the money we paid, but then we were upgraded for free to a superior room which was fantastic! Some things i'd wish someone had told me:-
- There is a lovely authentic italian fish restaurant about 5-10mins from the hotel called da vincenzos. Full of italian people, excellent food and well priced! Jug of wine is 8euros!
- Thats amore (restaurant) - don't be fooled by the look of it, its overpriced, staff are stroppy and food not great.
-Get a metro pass for 3 days - 11 euros, can travel almost everywhere and it includes the buses too.
- I missed it, but alot of people on the plane on the way back were saying how lovely the trevi fountain is at night.
- Vatican museum- There are people selling tours but they work out around 50 euros each which are probably very good but inside the museum you can get an audio guide for 7 euros which is still good if your trying to save money for more wine!

Lovely hotel and would definitly return!enjoy!

Hotle Columbia is a plush, upscale hotel. Although nminaly rated at 3 stars, I considered it to be 4 star quality (my son who lives in Florence agreed). The bed sheets ad towels are high quality and the rooms are impeccably clean (so clean in fact that they frown on taking coffe from the breakfast room to your room).

Location is a short walk from the train station, and in the middle of the town center so all the major attractions are easily accessible. Breakfast is very good and plentful, and is served on the top floor in a bright sunny room.

Although not inexpensive (nothing in Rome is inexpensive), it is a good value in our opinion.

Yes. decent rooms, wonderful staff, and I will be back. I have stayed at the hotel with my husband, and another stay with my sister and son, and 2 friends. Each time it was a lovely experience, e specially for a solo person because you can safely walk to very good restaurants, be very close to the railroad station, the bus station, and be within walking distance to the Colliseum, the Vatican, and other top attractions. The br eakfast served on the roof is wonderful! I have stayed at kuxury hotels in Rome, like the Excelsior on Via Veneto, and for friendliness and comfort, the Columbia is the best.
