“Central hotel - clean and comfortable!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013

The hotel is very close to the Spanish Steps and Piazza del Popolo. Metro, bus and taxi stations are very nearby. ideal starting point for your sightseeing trips! You are in the middle of the action but still in a very peaceful hotel. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful as to the reception and the house keeping staff. Whereas the ladies of the breakfast room always gave the impression that we were bothering them. The rooms were small but nicely furnished and clean. Great roof-top terrace with fantastic view, umbrellas, sunbeads and tables. Free WIFI in the lobby and breakfast room. The choice of TV channels was very limited. We paid 240 Euro per night which is rather on the higher side.

The staff was really great (reception, help, waiters, all!) but the carpet is worn out, the rooms are small, you need to request a new wifi password for each device you own every single day and there is no wifi in the rooms. No kettle in the rooms either. The breakfast room is extremely small and the choice is not that great.
Location was great.

Charming hotel in a charming street. But, to pay almost 600 U$ a night for a room with only one eletctric outlet, no coffee machine, no hair conditioner, cheap shampoo, cheap body lotion, not a single english newspaper, no Wifi in the rooms, thank you, but never again.

This hotel was located a bit farther north then I had expected but it was still a 10 min walk down 1 road and you hit the spanish steps. Its less than half a block from Piazza del Popolo. It was nice though as it was a bit out of the way from major tourist traffic and still central rome (just a bit north). To the west of the city was Vatican City and to the sout east was the Coloseum, both about a half hour walk from the hotel.

The hotel itslef is typeical European where double beds are really twin beds pushed together. We had a triple room which was actually very spacious. There was even a divider between the single bed and the other two beds and small balconies.

The hotel has free wifi but you need to get a code each day from the front desk and it only works in the lobby, not in your room (typical of the other hotels I've stayed at throughout Europe).

From the airport, depending on traffic (which can vary) it is about 40-50 EUR or the hotel can get a private car for 55 EUR. There are plenty of cabs nearby if you ever need to get anywhere else. When wandering around the area, check the prices of a margherita pizza.. if its more then 6 EUR, the restaurant is ripping you off (according to the local tour guide we had a food tour). There are plenty of places to eat down side streets when heading towards the Spanish steps, if you head the other way towards the plaza, the restaurants there are SUPER expensive (if you base a cheese pizza average on being 6 EUR).

While this hotel was not as central as I originally thought it to be, the staff was nice and very helpful, the city is still easily within walking distance (Rome is a very easy city to walk everywhere too) and it was a bit cheaper then say, a hotel next to trevi fountain. Considering you will be all around the city its still a good location, clean, and has very helpful staff. I would stay here again the next time I go to Rome. There is also a very small gym (one treadmill, one bike, etc), which is rare so I was even happier with hotel since most others did not have any gym equipment.

We stayed at the hotel from April 3-7th when we came to visit our son who is studying abroad in Rome-good excuse to visit the eternal city. The location is phenomenal- right off of Piazza del Popolo. We thought our room with beautiful terrace and great views was fabulous. The staff at the hotel were helpful and friendly. We would love to return again in the future.

Room Tip: ask for junior suite-more roomy

We arrived at the Hotel Piranesi tired and jet-lagged from our flight over to Europe. Even though we arrived earlier than planned, the hotel had our room ready and offered us anything we needed. The rooms did not disappoint; we got two connecting rooms which served us well. The staff were very kind and helpful all over the hotel, and the breakfast had a wonderful selection of cheeses, pastries, fruits, granola, cold cuts, and bread. The breakfast room was a little warm for our tastes but we assumed the heat was from the kitchen. The location was very nice, there were multiple restaurants we could walk to, and the Spanish Steps,Trevi Fountain, and Pantheon were all less than 20 minutes away. If we ever come back to Rome we will most likely be staying here again. Everything was wonderful, from the staff to the location to the breakfast offered.
