Rooms are small by my standard. I am used to 5-star Asian hotels. The bathroom shower is terrible small. My elbows kept of hitting the sides. The bath towels are as thin as baby diapers - first time to experience. But they change it everyday. We had a small balcony which maybe is good for smokers. I do not smoke. Only a few rooms have a balcony and the view is facing the rear end of the hotel. Not much of a view. In front of the hotel is the Bristish Embassy. Good for security since there is always a police car around the corner in front of the embassy. Bad-they removed the bus stop fronting the hotel(for security?). Good - it is about a 15 minute walk to the Rome central train station. Breakfast is ok and people is the restaurant are friendly. Bad - some of the reception staff are not friendly. Possibly because I am Asian. Bad-elevator is very small. Only 1 and can only fit 3 to 4 medium size persons.

We stayed at the Hotel Brasile for three days in June in a double room on the third floor which was very clean and had a romantic view on a back courtyard. The Hotel location is very central at 10 minutes walk from Via Veneto and the public transport bus and metro station is in walking distance. There a lot of small and cosy restaurants in that area and we had some nice dinner at the Trattoria downstairs. Everything was very clean and the hotel staff was very nice and helpful. The receptionist helped us booking a day trip to Naples and several bus tours in Rome. We had a beautiful stay in Rome and will definetely recommend this place which is really excellent value.

I have just come back after an excellent long weekend in Rome. Luckily Rome has an awful lot to offer tourists or we would have spent more time in the hotel and when the hotel you are staying in is the Hotel Brasile, that is a problem.
The room was distinctly average with a very small bathroom - so small it was one step away from the old style toilet in your shower scenario, however the main problems were the unclean smell from the toilet that greeted us on our arrival and the most unhelpful staff on reception. The smell I can get over however, arrogant, aloof, rude, ignorant and unhelpful are just a few (polite) words I would choose to describe the hotel staff - Overall, the most simplest things (mainly information / directions) was so much trouble.

  • Liked — It had a bed
  • Disliked — The hotel staff

We stayed at the Hotel Brasile in February 2007 for our 30th wedding anniversary on the recommendation of our travel agent and were very satisfied with the hotel. The room was a bit on the small side, but this wasn't a problem as we spent all day out in the city. The hotel was only a 1 and 1/4 hour walk from the vatican (which was the opposite end of the city), taking in the spanish steps or the trevi fountain so we found we didn't need to take buses or trains at all and everywhere was within walking distance. The room was very clean and the towels changed every day. The shower is a bit small but the pressure was very good. Having stayed in 3 star hotels in other european big cities, it compared very well. The only criticisms are that the drains smelt (but that I suspect wasn't the hotel's fault) and there was only one thin pillow each. The staff were great and very helpful, including sort out a day trip to pompei where we were picked up and dropped off at the hotel. I would use them again, no problem.

After reading the terrible review of the Brasile Hotel we were worried about what we should expect. However we were pleasantly surprised that the hotel staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were neat clean and serviced daily. I'd happily stay at the Brasile Hotel. For a nice functional hotel in Rome it does well.
