This is not a serious hotel. How can they say that they are located "100 metres" away from the Vatican in the location section in their homepage??? It seems to me as a fake statement. And the reception workers? Far from friendly!!
Considering this is a VERY FAR hotel from Roma Center, the staff should at least warn you about the last buses that come back to the hotel (last times!) and about Rome ridiculous metro schedule, which closes at 9 PM!!! Cornelia station also seem to be at least 500 metres away from the hotel. Not to comment the room, which was as small as it could be, and the shower, which also provided us with huge periods of COLD water during the shower.
In resume, DO NOT BOOK IT unless you have to.

We came from Tallinn, Estonia and stayed at this hotel for three nights, had a pleasant stay during this time.
The hotel staff was friendly.
This is a hotel with a quite good location, ca 5 min walk to the bus stop and 20-25 min drive to the center.
We really enjoyed our stay, hope to come back!

Just come back from 4 nights, staying in this hotel. Although it was not too bad, it did not live up to the expectations we had read. The rooms are small and it can become very noisey. We were on the ground floor and because the floors are all tiled, it didn't muffle any noise. Everynight one of our rooms were woken with noise. It seems that the hotel is used very often for large school parties! The breakfast is fine and the staff were always cleaning used tables straight away and restocking the food. Hint - if there is a large school party go in after 9am otherwise there are no tables! The reception staff try and be helpful, but do seem to have limited English. One of our rooms had no heating and for 3 days we kept going back to ask for it to be fixed and it never was. The hotel is about 30mins out by Metro to all the main attractions. I would recommened getting off at Cornelia stop, because it is just a straight road to the hotel and no hills. We used the 49 bus to drop us outside the Supermarket just by the hotel. It is not a hotel for people with walking problems or young children. We did have a room that was disabled friendly, but it is the outside of the hotel in the main streets that is an issue. I would only recommend this hotel if you don't mind being away from the main areas and like to travel. Although it says Satellite TV, it is mainly Italian and the only English programme is BBC World Service. A hint if you want duty free cigarrettes in Ciamp Airport dont. Buy before you get there because they do not have a great variety and for 200 Benson & Hedges they were £32!

Squishy Rooms and Not Soundproof

I stayed with a tour group there for three nights total and the rooms are very small. The management managed to squish four single beds into the room which left no room at all for any luggage, we were packed in like sardines. The bathroom shower is directlly over top the toilet, which makes it extremely hard to keep your towel dry in that small bathroom. The water pressure was very low also. The walls were not very soundproof and we could hear people in the room 2 rooms over very clearly.

The actual hotel was very quaint with a unique layout. It had a pleasant feel to it and I felt secure there. Besides for being squished in and the very tiny bathroom, it wasn't that bad of a stay.

  • Liked — The layout and the fact there was a balcony on one of the rooms we stayed in.
  • Disliked — the smallness of the rooms and bathrooms

Spent three nights at Hotel Giotto, which were pleasant and enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful. I advise any travellers to go to Battistini train station rather than Cornelia station ,as it is an easier walk and not continuously up hill and takes around 10-15 minutes walk. Found the hotel a little hard to find as side street is not clearly marked however if you take a map, there a many helpful locals who will point you in the right direction. Upon arrival we were informed that there were no twin rooms available so for our first night we would stay in singles. However, we were advised by our travel operator that Hotel Giotto allocates rooms upon arrival so we were not surprised.

The next day the man at reception advised that our luggage would be moved to a twin room that day which it was upon our return. The hotel is clean and tidy and they have a luggage room if your flight is not until later in the day.

Hotel Giotto is an affordable and excellent base to explore Rome, if you don't mind using the local Metro-net to get into the centre everyday, but at 11 euros for a 3 day travel pass who does.
The only downside was the breakfast which is a cold buffet of cakes, bread, cheeses and ham. However there is a store next to the train station where you can grab something to eat.

Overall i would highly recommend this hotel as affordable, clean and pleasant which offers a no frills stay.
