My wife and I recently had the privilege of staying at this wonderful hotel May 26 - 2 Jun, 2008. What a great week! The hotel is located on Via Flavia, a quite side street parallel to Via XX Settembre (20 September), only minutes from the Termini (main train station). One is close to all the major attractions either by walking, bus, or metro, yet far enough from the constant noise of traffic and tourists. Good hotels are not cheap in Rome and this hotel was no exception. Remember, you pay for what you get. We received a big, big rooom with king bed, TV, A/C, fridge, and a huge bathroom with tub & shower. Even by US standards, this room was big. It was well appointed with a table and chair, desk with drawers, two night stands, and an armoir (closet). A very sturdy safe was also in the room. The bed was very comfortable. I slept soundly each night.
The hotel staff was the best I have ever encountered. They were friendly, knowledgeable, and always ready to help at moment's notice. The front desk was open 24 hours a day. Maps were readily available and the staff gave great tips for shopping, which bus or Metro stops to use and available tours and other useful information.
Bring your appitite with you as the morning breakfast was wonderful. One must be there to fully appreciate the assortment of items offered. We never left hungry.
The hotel lobby was always clean, light, and I never once saw any trash either in the stairwells, or bathrooms. the elevator worked with precision and we never waited more than a minute or two if it was occupied.
Being on a side street, it was quiet, very quiet. Blackout curtains made sure you were not bothered by the early morning light, if you were a late sleeper. (Who would want to sleep late in Rome?)
If it is your intent to stay at a full-service hotel that is conveniently located, has a very professional staff, and will meet you every need, this is the place.
There is no restaurant in the hotel, but there are several wonderful restaurants within 1-3 blocks that offer great Italian food and wine. What more could you ask for?
