Stayed in this hotel with my Italian partner for two nights over New Year's Eve after booking online and reading the reviews. I think there must be another part of the hotel which is ok because otherwise I can't believe anyone would write a good review of it. The only good points were that the hotel is in a quiet central location and it was kept as clean as possible, with the beds made and fresh towels provided on the second day. However the room was shabby and reminded me of cheap hotels in North Africa. (the only difference being that it would not cost 100 euro a night in Tunisia or Egypt). There was no way that this was a 3 star hotel and I realised that I had been naive in believing the star rating). The toilet was shared, which would have been fine if they had not been in two smelly cubicles which were shared with showers. The staff were reasonably polite but clearly bored and incompetent and were unable to provide hot water, despite my partner's constant phone calls to the reception to tell them that the shower was cold. We were constantly told that we should "wait ten minutes" while people went up step ladders to fiddle with the water tank, but only we only managed to have one shower each in lukewarm water over the course of our two-day stay. We came home in need of a proper wash, which is unacceptable considering the price we paid. Finally, the radiator in the room did not work. Overall, I was shocked at the quality of this hotel for the price, even considering the time of year (which meant that we couldn't go elsewhere). There is a big difference between a basic hotel (such as the ETAP chain where I stayed in Paris the previous year for half the price) and a squalid one!

It's a 2 star hotel first of all! (shown from the booklet by the hotel itself) We paid 130 euro for one night staying and I do not see the value of money. The room is way too noisy both from the street and the corridor. The wall seemed to be made of thin wood board and we could easily hear our neighbors talking. When somebody flushes the toilet, it's like an earthquake especially in mid-night.

The persons were nice and helpful, however. But thinking about the price and having a feeling that we were fooled by the star rating of the hotel, I didn't have a nice time.

I stayed at this hotel last year. Even though I am Italian, it was my first time in Rome and I choose this hotel because of the reasonable price and its location, within walking distance from the main train station. I have to say that my room was clean and the bed large, but they looked old and not very attractive, and so was the bathroom. The lounge was really kitsch, filled with cheap items, probably bought at a five-and-ten store. The staff was far from being friendly, apart from the ageing man of the night shift who was a nice person. Breakfast was basic, not bad, but they seemed to save money on it, and you always had to ask if you want something more. However, I rarely spend much time in a hotel when in another city, so this place did not spoil my stay in lovely Rome.

I asked a man at the Termini station who had a badge on with 'Tourist Office' Hotels B&B Free Shuttle I took it that this man was an official tourist board officer and I asked him if he would recommend a good 3 star hotel in Rome and I suggested a few that I had read reviews on,'he phoned them 'and said they were full and then suggested the Cambridge. He was very pleasant and he showed us to the hotel where we were shown two different rooms one really awful the other obviously recently refurbished extremely small with an en-suite bathroom(tiny) but it was very clean. When we said we were unsure surprise surprise the price came down by 20 euros to 100 euros.I've come to the conclusion that there is a fiddle going on as we spoke to other people and the rates all vary, so be on your guard.
Make no mistake this is not a hotel in my opinion just rooms with a room for breakfast which was fine for the average italian'breakfast', we came not to expect too much. The staff are very accommodating no complaints there but at 100euros a night it is a rip off.The stair ways are filthy carpets threadbare, it reminded of an old victorian prison.Dont get in the lift if you are claustrophobic of if you are a little larger than the average person. Most certainly would not go back or recommend to anyone.Area very dodgy.

We stayed at the hotel on May 17th 2007 for a few days. I found that the hotel although shared the same building with others hotel (a bit cramped there) but the room is quite spacy (I have a large family of 6), very clean. The bathroom is quite new - probably they have just renovated the place. The price is some what a bit too high for me (I stayed in a four bed type room). Anyway, the area is very safe to walk at night - I have 4 very young children and feel very safe to venture out at night for dinner etc. Very close to termini station and that is a plus. Hotel staff is very helpful and very nice, friendly.
