When we arrived our room was not ready and we were asked to come back in an hour to check in. We came back and were given the key to our room. The housekeeping staff seem to be the only ones allowed to use the lift during the day, so we had to drag our case up 3 flights of stairs, only to find that our room had not yet been cleaned. So back down the stairs to reception who made no apology and asked us to come back in another hour.

The pictures on the hotel website are very misleading, as only 2 out of the 5 floors have been renovated and our room was very very run down. We were woken up at 6.30am every morning by constant chatter of housekeeping staff. The reception staff weren't rude but made no effort to be friendly or helpful. No advise was given on times or locations for breakfast, dinner or the bar, you simply had to work this out for yourself. This hotel was extremely overpriced. Not to be recommended!

This is a really nice city centre hotel. Its location is perfect 5 mins from the vatican. The breakfast is brillant will keep you going until dinner. The staff were very friendly and always willing to help and chat.

The room was not quite what I expected from the website but they seem to be doing up the hotel floor by floor. The decor in my room was a bit dated and bissare but it was very clean.

Spent 3 very active days in Rome during our Italy vacation. Hotel Isa was the perfect location for our daily excursions. The hotel is centrally located to walk to the many atractions. If you choose to take a cab to save time the front desk will make all arrangements. The hotel is very accomodating, a safe, extremely clean, and comfortable place to return to every evening. The breakfast buffet is a wonderful start to the day. We ate 2 of our evening meals at the hotel because the food was exceptional. The staff and the rooms werea above our expectations. When we return to Rome we will be staying at the Hotel Isa again. I almost forgot that from the roof top resturant there is a breathtaking view of the Vatican.

great location. rome is very walkable and fun to tour on foot. having isa as a base worked out well. it seemed to be in the more quite part of rome, separated from the drones of tourists and obnoxious middleschoolers with mullets.

when we booked this hotel, and booked the cheapest room, i did not expect to get the room which is shown on the website, nor did we get the room that was on the website. what we did get was a nice, spacious room, which was clean, comfortable and safe. my only complaint are that the doors and walls are thin and would be dreadful if you had noisey people on your floor.

the staff was friendly and the rooftop was a nice place to relax with a drink and overlook st. peters.

bottom line, dont be dissappointed if you book the cheapest room and you dont get whats on the website.

The rooms in Hotel Isa (3 couples - 1 room on 2nd floor and 2 rooms on 3rd floor) were quite adequate. We did not have a bath in these rooms and after walking all day around Rome it would - on reflection - have been nice to have a soak.

The breakfast was lovely - so much cake!! Freshly squeezed orange juice and fresh coffee from the counter. Hot stuff not quite so good but great selection of cheeses, cold meats, fruit, yoghurts etc..

All the dining is on the roof terrace which has thick canvass to protect you from elements, however it was very cold (mid Feb) and we needed double layers to go and eat breakfast. We had a complimentary dinner one evening and having been slightly disappointed at the buffet bar, the 'cooked to your liking' steak or fish was fantastic (even if we did get a bit smoked out!! In summer this would not be a problem as the canvass would presumable be lifted)

In terms of location - this is the vatican side of the river - 5m from Castel San Angelo and 10m from St Peter's (which you can see from roof terrace but not our rooms which were either a courtyard or street view) We love walking so very happy to cross river each day to see all other key sights. Metro not too far a walk either if you decide on that...
