Rome is an expensive city. For 80 euros per night for a single, I stayed at the Hotel Embassy in September 2009 for 3 nights. The room was a small but decent room with a double bed and attached shower. Breakfast was a very basic and simple continental spread with a selection of pastries, cereals, and juices - a no-frills breakfast. The hotel is located in a small lane off Via Settembre XX and just 5 minutes walk to the nearest metro station at Piazza Repubblica and 15 minutes walk to Termini Station.

I would say that for the price, Hotel Embassy offers convenience for business and leisure in Rome without having to pay sky high prices.

Just terrible. Hosted in a building with two other hotels and offices. Terrible elevator. Very poor breakfast (we bought our own from super markets). Noisy, dirty carpets, . . .

The hotel was located in an old block of appartments with 2 other hotels. This hotel was in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor and in these floors there were also other offices. The elevetor was extremely old with a metal web around it, like the one we see in old movies. Our room was clean but the block of appartments in general was extremely dirty. In our room, the toilet seat and the bin in the bathroom were broken and the shower sink was plugged.
The front door of the hotel was open all day and anyone could get in the building. The breakfast was limited to croissant.
However, it was 5 minutes from the metro station and the personell of the hotel was friendly and helpful.

We stayed in this hotel for a week in August 2008 and it was a really nice experience. The location is very good - you can easily reach Termini by foot in 10-15 minutes, which is more comfortable than dealing with stairs in metro for only one station; you can reach Via Veneto in 5 minutes, Villa Borghese in 10, Fontana di Trevi in 20, Piazza di Spagna is 25, Santa Maria Maggiore in 20, Colloseo in 35 (but the time depends on your speed and ability to walk long distance, of course). Metro Republicca is very close too. There are also some restaurants and wine cellars and a supermarket in the area.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. They know Rome very good.
The lift is quite small and old, but we didn't find it a problem. Free wi-fi is definitely an advantage as well as a computer with connection in front of the reception for those who don't bring their laptops.
We liked the breakfast, it was tasty and the coffee was good.
The room was spacious, comfortable and nice and it even had interesting pictures of old Rome as a decoration. The bathroom was clean and quite spacious too, though the shower was small.
We enjoyed our stay in Rome very much and we think that Embassy hotel is a nice place to start your walk around Rome and to return to after a long day full of impressions!

Hotel is located 15 min. walk from Termini rail and metro station and 10 min. from Barberini or Repubblica metro stations. Rooms are on 2nd and 3rd floor of an apartment building with windows facing busy street. Expect traffic wake up noise around 6:30 am. There is large bathroom but shower booth is European style. Hotel provides free wireless internet. Breakfast is very good and plenty. Front desk service very helpful. We could storage our luggage without any problem after check out time.
