We got moved from another 3* hotel (Fiamma) which was over-booked and we certainly didn't complain! The Torino was in a great central location (less than 5 mins walk from 2 metro stops, Termini and Repubblica, and the bus terminal). That said, if you don't mind the heat you can walk to places such as the Colloseum and Pantheon.
It was noisy, but that applies to most of the city, so it's an idea to take earplugs.
The breakfast was excellent, with several nice pastries, 3 different types of both ham and cheese, loads of fresh fruit and yoghurts, fruit juices cereals and so on. The outdoor breakfast room gave reasonable views of Rome. I found everyone friendly, though the hotel was fairly quiet (it was the last full week of July) so no one was too rushed! I also found the decor to be nice - the bed was fine, air conditioning wasn't noisy although the cold tap did make a bit of a funny noise at times! The shower was excellent, we didn't use the bidet at all so can't comment on that. The mini-bar was well stocked if a little pricey but of course you can use the fridge for your own drinks! Perfectly adequate lift, wardrobe, drawers and so on - all in in we enjoyed it and I'd give at least 4 out of 5!
Of course maybe I'm happier because we paid a relatively low amount (as we'd paid for a 3*, around £50 per night for a double room) through lastminute.com.
Enjoy!
