My wife and I have just returned from Rome after staying there 3 days. We had a great time seeing all the sights and enjoying all the good wine and food Rome has to offer. Even though the weather was not great it did not spoil our holiday. The only thing we were not happy about was the hotel.

Hotel Torino says its a 4star hotel but in no way does it meet any 4 star requirements. We would say it is more like a 2/3 star. The staff are not friendly at all, they do not help in carrying your suitcase. They do not give any advice on tours, food, nothing. We had to carry the suitcase up some stairs and into a small (and I mean small) lift. The hotel is very old which is ok but the rooms are very small. Clean but very small. We had a double room but the bed was 2 twin beds put together. The bathroom was horrible and was not cleaned on one of the days. The shower is so small you can walk in but you cannot move around or shower properly. You can also hear heavy water pouring down the walls. When one of the above floors use their toilets you can hear the water coming down. The TV has only 1 channel in English and there was only 1 socket in the room to charge your phone, camera etc. which already and 2 extension plugs to it.

The only good thing about the hotel was the location. It is less then a couple of minutes walk to the main Terminal station. You can walk to most of the main sites and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, snack bars etc seconds away from the hotel.

For the location we would next time stay across the road at the Best Western.

I have very good memories of hotel Torino. The service was very polite, and the receptionist was very skilled with different languages. The rooms were basic but neat, and there was a balcony in the room. We stayed at the second highest story, so it wasn´t that loud... The street beneath was quite noisy. The breakfast was very good. The hotel is very close to Termini station, so its location is quite good. I prefered walking in Rome from one place to another, so I liked the location. Via Principe Amedeo can be informed to be as a "restless" street, but on the part of the street where the hotel is situated, it is safe. There are quite a few hotels around it. But walk along the street further, it becomes quite different. No problem daytime, though.

Located 5 minutes from Termini, 1-2 minutes from 3 restaurants with great authentic food, 15 - 20 minutes from tourist sites, 3 minutes from 3 ATMs. Need a taxi to get to the Vatican, but if you only have one bag it's easy to take the train and walk to the Hotel. Room was comfortable and clean, if small. It was on the front and traffic noises could be heard. Everything quieted down after 11 or 12 pm and it did not bother me. If you want quieter ask for one away from the front. Bathroom was nice and had all the amenities I needed. Staff was helpful and booked tours even on short notice. The tours were some of the best I've had anywhere. I will gladly stay in Hotel Torino again. A little on the expensive side, but worth the price to me as a single woman and I stayed in pricier hotels on this trip.. I felt very safe walking in the neighborhood after dark.

Hotel Torino was the worst hotel we have ever stayed in. We stayed for 7 nights in this hotel. When we arrived there was complete indifference to us. not even a 'good afternoon and welcome'. There was no help with our luggage.Breakfast room was filthy and full of pidgeons eating off the tables. There was a bath in the room but no bath plug. We complained about this but nothing was done. We had a triple room. The double room had 2 single beds pushed together. In the single room my son had to sleep on a small sofa as the bed was a very uncomfortable camp bed. The staff were rude and obnoxious. We asked to get 3/4 of a bag of washing done by the hotel laundry service. It would have cost around €20 here in Ireland and they tried to charge us €298. We could get no satisfaction when we complained. They tried to charge us for items that we did not even have in our possession. We would certainly not reccomend this disgusting hotel to anyone who is thinking of going to Rome

We got moved from another 3* hotel (Fiamma) which was over-booked and we certainly didn't complain! The Torino was in a great central location (less than 5 mins walk from 2 metro stops, Termini and Repubblica, and the bus terminal). That said, if you don't mind the heat you can walk to places such as the Colloseum and Pantheon.
It was noisy, but that applies to most of the city, so it's an idea to take earplugs.
The breakfast was excellent, with several nice pastries, 3 different types of both ham and cheese, loads of fresh fruit and yoghurts, fruit juices cereals and so on. The outdoor breakfast room gave reasonable views of Rome. I found everyone friendly, though the hotel was fairly quiet (it was the last full week of July) so no one was too rushed! I also found the decor to be nice - the bed was fine, air conditioning wasn't noisy although the cold tap did make a bit of a funny noise at times! The shower was excellent, we didn't use the bidet at all so can't comment on that. The mini-bar was well stocked if a little pricey but of course you can use the fridge for your own drinks! Perfectly adequate lift, wardrobe, drawers and so on - all in in we enjoyed it and I'd give at least 4 out of 5!
Of course maybe I'm happier because we paid a relatively low amount (as we'd paid for a 3*, around £50 per night for a double room) through lastminute.com.
Enjoy!
