Took my mother (age 73) to Europe for a vacation and we spent 3 days in Rome. Based on a recommendation from AAA, I booked the Diana Hotel. What a mistake. Not only was the room dirty and in terrible condition, but they turned off the air conditioning and fan every night from midnight to noon the next day (however they managed to leave the air conditioning on in the hallways and lobby). With the temperatures in the high 70's the room became an oven at night. They even turned off the window fan so you couldn't get fresh air in the room all night. You could open the window but because there are no screens on the windows the mosquitoes became a problem. When I asked the management to leave the air on for my mother, who was having a hard time in the over heated room, they told me essentially "no will do, deal with it". I woudn't recommend this hotel to anyone!

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Diana whilst on a tour and found it to be very clean and comfortable. The decor is traditional with wooden floors. August is very hot, but we were able to open our windows. The bathroom was of average size with a range of toiletries provided. It was a bit squashy having a shower in the narrow bathtub. The lift was about 2 feet wide, and creaked a bit but we always made it to our floor. Continental breakfast is served in the rooftop restaurant and included yoghurt, canned peach halves, cereal, pastries, cold meats, juice , tea and coffee. The location, near Termini, is excellent, and there was a supermarket around the corner, as well as a souvenir shop. Many attractions are within walking distance.

We stayed at this hotel for four nights during August 2008 as we were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. The first evening we ate in the roof top garden resaurant. Sounds lovely....well don't be deceived. The chef refused to cook a pizza for us as it was too late.........NO PIZZA in Italy......amazing. The food that was served was obviously microwaved as it was hot on the outside and cold in the middle. There were no side dishes available, not even a salad! The alcoholic drinks were extortionate.

Our room was kept clean, however it was absolutely boiling hot....cooler outside. The mini bar fridge did not work and after several requests was eventually fixed on out last day.

Reception....staff were rude and unhelpful. The breakfast/restaurant staff were even worse. Unhelpful, no smiles and no pleasant greeting.....truely the worst experience we have ever had. At one point a lady on duty in the breakfast room had a stand up argument with another member of staff in front of us. Relaxing breakfast.....forget it.

We would never, ever stay in this hotel again. Beware!

A group of us stayed at Hotel Diana following a Med cruise. We booked the hotel based on previous reviews and proximity to train station. This allowed for easy transfers from the port and to the airport.

The hotel is at least a solid 3 stars. It is a typical older european hotel. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. There is also a grocery store across the street to buy water, juice and snacks. It is close enough to all main attractions. We used taxis to get around, and it wasn't priced too badly. We didn't spend much time in the room, as we were in Rome afterall.

We booked the hotel on Orbitz for 122USD/night---that was an incredible value!!! I gave the hotel 4 stars because of the great pricing. It's at least a solid 3 stars.
