A group of us stayed at Hotel Diana following a Med cruise. We booked the hotel based on previous reviews and proximity to train station. This allowed for easy transfers from the port and to the airport.

The hotel is at least a solid 3 stars. It is a typical older european hotel. The rooms were clean and the breakfast was good. There is also a grocery store across the street to buy water, juice and snacks. It is close enough to all main attractions. We used taxis to get around, and it wasn't priced too badly. We didn't spend much time in the room, as we were in Rome afterall.

We booked the hotel on Orbitz for 122USD/night---that was an incredible value!!! I gave the hotel 4 stars because of the great pricing. It's at least a solid 3 stars.

We just returned from a family reunion vacation that started in Rome- with 26 people from ages 5-73! Our hotel for Rome was the DIANA, booked by a travel agent. As you can imagine, since we had about a dozen rooms, I was able to see many of them- and they varied considerably from tiny, to spacious with balconies. Uniformly, they were just fine-clean enough, beds comfortable enough, safe enough. PLUSES: location to everything is ez with proximity to Termini (although we had a special tour bus for our group), ez walking to St. Mary Major-one of the 4 major churches in Rome, great front desk: spoke english, very helpful for restaurants, with the bags, etc., balconies! (if you're lucky enough to get one! Request it!); nice rooftop bar/restaurant for a cool beer (or limoncello!) after a day of sightseeing and shopping (We never had dinner up there so I can't talk about that); also, many cheap(er) restaurants all around the area (although it's not in a particulary "charming" area-safe but not "charming"; front lobby was also capacious enough for our big group to gather before heading out for the day. NEGATIVES: dark rooms/decor overall giving the feeling of dinginess (although, the rooms were clean enough); many rooms have only ridiculous hand held shower units over a tub (no place to mount the shower head over your head on the wall-so you have to hold it in your hand, or replace it on the cradle at the faucet leve), or a shower no tub; AC does turn off during day (but we were NEVER in our room during the day-- and neither should you be in ROMA!), poky elevators that took forever, tiny hallways. BTW, breakfast upstairs was just fine. Again, not anything to write home about, but hte kids loved the "buffet style" and there is always something to eat with eggs, meats, cheeses, bread, juiice, coffee, yogurt and fruit on the menu every day. In the end, with the high prices in Rome for us Americans, this hotel at about $300/night was safe, convenient and adequate. Not luxurious, but it was just fine and I wouldn't be averse to staying there again... but I'd probably try to find something in a more pictureseque area- esp. if I was returning with my husband for a romantic trip! Oh- also, for first timers to Rome- we actually walked fromt he Vatican to our hotel in about 2 hrs with alot of meandering (stopped in plaza navone for shopping, etc)... things are close in Rome so if you're walkers, this hotel is just fine location wise. HAVE A GREAT TRIP!

We booked through a travel agent and she tried to find us a hotel close to Termini station because we have to travel to another city in a few days. I expected this hotel to be less than the hotels she booked for us in Florence and Venice because it was the cheapest. But I was pleasantly surprised that it was the best out of the three we stayed at.

We have a 15-month old baby and requested a crib for him. I think they bought a brand new portable baby crib just for him. They also gave us a huge room including a walk-in closet! I think they gave us a bigger room because we had a baby but charged us the price of a regular room.

The staff was friendly and courteous. We had breakfast at the rooftop every morning and they were extremely nice. One waiter was extremely helpful and brought out the highchair for our baby every morning.

The air conditioning did shut off during the day but I guess it's standard practice to save energy. We were out during the day so it didn't affect us anyways.

I have nothing but good things to say about this hotel. If you're traveling with babies, they're very accommodating.

As one of six adults staying in this hotel, I was very satisfied. It was very clean. I also found the location ideal for getting to /from the airport, and a convenient walk to major sites.

To address some issues raised by other travellers, the hotel did shut off the AC during the day, but not for long. When we were in our room, I never had a problem (on and off from 3pm to 10am).

Other than one incident with one person at the desk, the staff was helpful and all other interactions with the staff were pleasant.

The breakfast was more than I expected. They had scrambled eggs and bacon, as well as hardboiled eggs, canned peaces, ham, cheese, breads, croissants and cereal.

The bathrooms in both rooms were more than adequate (not closet-like at all). One room was on the small side, but it was for two people and we had three people staying there.

Overall, I was very pleased and would stay there again.
