Our train trip through Italy over the Christmas holidays included three of our college age kids, so a quick walk from the train station pulling our luggage made this a very convenient choice. This hotel has been renovated very nicely. Our rooms were not as elegant as some depicted on the website, but were very nice and definitely clean and well appointed. They were in a different wing... probably due to the fact that we wanted rooms next to one another. Very quiet. It wasn't really until breakfast (very good, in a bright, cheery little dining room) that we realized there were any other guests. Definitely check out the historic room that is now the library. The front desk personnel varied from coolly efficient to very friendly and helpful. Note: It does have elevators... a must in a lot of the old Italian buildings! Because it was rainy and cold when we were there, the central garden wasn't up and running, but I'd imagine it would be lovely in the spring, summer, and fall. Recommended

Great location! Tour bus available right outside the hotel. The train station was 10 minutes away. The rooms were nice and clean with high ceilings. The room size was excellent -- nice and big. The bathrooms were a little dated. However, the property was well maintained. Nice patio area and a nice lounge available. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was okay. They offered eggs, sausage, yogurt, cereal and coffee each day. Made lattes on order. Outside our window we could see the Church St. Maria Margorie. Nice view. Good Italian eating place next door. The elevator from the lobby would go up a floor from where you had to transfer to another elevator (or you could walk up the 4 steps). Great job with the ammenities.

Have just returned from 3 night break. Read reviews and was confident, however at first extremely dissappointed. First room was awful dark, no carpets, chipped bath shabby furniture (room 308) having told them we were celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary I expected better. Second room not much better, third time lucky. We ended up with 301 which was opposite Santa Maria Maggiore church with lovely view. Nice size, but bathroom still a little shabby nowhere to put toiletries, slightly chipped bath and shower on cradle on bath taps. We settled here as best of rest. Breakfast was awful. Cold eggs and frankfurters, one style of bread roll, croissant (if you are lucky) and packet toast. Cheese in plastic and silver foil. However, if you don't mind a salami roll, standard tub of yogurt and coffee its adequate. Juice was squash. There is NO bar or restaurant even though in the room there is a sign which invites you to go the bar. At the back of the courtyard there is a restaurant that must have been sold off and is now nothing to do with the hotel. The public areas of the hotel (staircases and library are nicely furnished and well maintained but souless. There was never anyone around. Rome is beautiful, stunning, and this hotel is very central, if you want the bus it is right outside the hotel but everything Is within walking distance and it is in a pleasant location. We went out early morning and spent the day and evening out returning late for a relaxing bath and bed. For this reason the hotel was suitable. We did not want to waste money on a hotel that we were not spending much time in. If you get this hotel at a good price and dont want to spend time other than in your room, it is a good choice. Not really 4*. There is a nice looking restaurant on the corner (didnt have time to go there) and a really good restaurant with fantastic atmosphere on the Via Cavour ,sorry forgot name but specialised in chicken as well as usual Italian delights (fairy lights outside) the spit cooked chicken was excellent and the Italian Owner gave us a selection of Italian starters. Middle priced 65 eur for 3 courses and wine. Staff excellent.

This hotel is a gem of a find value wise. It is within walking distance to most major tourist attractions. The hotel is basic but clean however the historical aspect to this hotel more than compensates. The staff were helpful and courteous. There any plenty of good value cafes and bars nearby. We used the two day tour bus which is great for seeing Rome at your own pace and leisure. You can walk as much as you want or simply hop on the tour bus. Overall an excellent hotel, one I would definitely use again.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. The location was great (5 minutes from the Termini station), the room was clean, spacious, soundproofed and air conditioned. We also had a proper bathroom as opposed to just a showeroom. The staff were also helpful and friendly. We would certainly recommed this hotel.
