We stayed at the hotel Emona for 4 nights in September. We had a standard room on the 2nd floor. In my opinion, this hotel was NOT cheap...but then again, nothing in Europe is cheap.
We walked to the hotel from the Rome train station which took about 20 minutes (with luggage). It's in a quiet part of town. In my opinion, it's not in the most glamorous part of town. In fact, the area is a bit seedy.
The hotel room was ready when we arrived in the afternoon. There was no elevator, so we had to lug our two big luggages up the marble stairs!
The room was a nice size, clean, with a queen size bed. The bathroom was also a nice size. The main problem is the bathroom! There was no shower curtain! Every time we took a shower, there would be water all over the floor. Then, the bathroom would smell like mildew. They need to invest in some shower curtains because not everyone takes baths!! Also, hot water was not consistent. At best, water was luke warm. At worst, the water was freezing cold! Not sure what was going on with the plumbing.
We had a laptop computer with us. So, we were able to pick up a cable from the front desk and had internet connection in our room which was a bonus. I saw others using a common computer by the breakfast area.
Breakfast was nothing to rave about. They did have bacon and eggs!
The hotel was not located in a central area. It is about a 20 minute walk to the Colisseum. 5 minutes to the metro station.
Overall, the hotel was just ok. Next time I will be staying at a hotel slightly closer to the center of Rome and where they have shower curtains!
