. We went for a 10 day break to Rome to take in a bit of history. Well we were positively delighted with our hotel. On first impressions it looks very old but once inside it was a little treasure. On arrival at reception we were given room 32 on the top floor. This room proved to be a bit difficult for us in the 98 degree heat so we asked if they could move us. Ground floor here we come - room 13. Delightfully cool. The staff at this hotel were fantastic from the lovely Andrea and Nadine on reception to the lovely lad downstairs in the breakfast room -- nothing was too much trouble. The hot water in the shower was always hot, the towels white and fluffy were changed every single day, and the beds were changed every other day. I must say the standard of cleanliness in this hotel was outstanding and i would certainly recommend anyone to stay here. Now Rome is oustanding as a tourist destination and you dont have to spend a fortune there either. We found the restaurants to be very reasonable. Around the Colosseum beware though as the gladiators are very quick to take your camera and take a picture and then have the cheek to charge you five euros for the priviledge.. All in all this holiday was truly amazing from the wonderful hotel to the marvellous sites. Thoroughly recommended for both. We stayed in Rome for ten days from 16th June - 26th June 2008

I stayed here with a friend over the Easter weekend and thought the hotel was really nice. The rooms are a good size, although the twin beds are really close together (but most European hotels tend to be like that). The staff were friendly and helpful when we struggled with our basic Italian, and allowed early check-in on the day we arrived and let us leave our luggage there on the day we checked out so we could do some last-minute sight-seeing. Continental breakfast was included in our rate and it was really tasty, a good selection. The only thing I'd say is that the location was a bit quiet for me. It was about a 5 minute walk from the nearest subway station (Manzoni), although I think you can also take a bus or tram from Rome's main Termini Station. There were a handful of restaurants in the surrounding streets but not much choice. However, I have to add that many shops etc were closed because it was Easter, so it might be a bit livelier at other times.

Firstly, this is most definitely not a three star hotel - more like a one star. This hotel is situated on a main road and the noise from the traffic at night was almost intolerable. The hotel is tired, both internally and externally, and is in need of 'tidying up'. It was however, very cheap and the reception staff were very cheerful. Would I recommend this hotel to friends and family? - definitely not. For a few more pounds there are several hotels in the next street which are situated where it would be possible to sleep at night. After a long day walking in Rome, a night's sleep is needed more than anything. The breakfast was merely a token, which was better than nothing at all. The best thing about this hotel was the shower, powerful and hot and well received.

A bit of a hike from major attractions, but good value.

It's not a super fancy hotel, but it is a good value for the money. Clean hotel, big difference it looks like between the more expensive rooms and the cheaper one we got. But overall, not a bad place. However, it's a 30 min walk to the old part of town (Pantheon etc). For us it was fine since we were not really there to see those things again. Giving it 4 stars based on value.

My partner and I just got back from a week in Rome (11/17-11/24), and had stayed at the Hotel Emona Aquaeductus. Overall, we found this to be a pleasant experience.

The room that we stayed in (26) had nice high ceilings and warm furnishings. It was pretty standard in size for a European hotel, the but the high ceilings made the space feel larger than it was. A few areas in the hotel could use a touch of plaster and fresh paint, but it didn't look run down at all. The walls were a bit on the thin side, so you may have a few issues in the morning if you have noisy neighbors. (But why are you sleeping anyway -- you are in Rome?) The street noise was very minimal. The bed itself was a bit firm, but I was fine with that and slept like the dead (although perhaps walking the city non-stop had something to do with that).

The bathroom was well-appointed as well, although the shower stall was on the small side, and the door was awkwardly placed by the toilet, so when you opened it, it would hit the bowl of the toilet. One's knees would hit the shower door as well while sitting on the toilet. It was definitely on the cozy side. They really should have scrapped the bidet to make more room.

The location was really convenient -- just a few minute walk from the Manzoni train station (along the A train, which heads through Termini towards Piazza di Spagna). There is a tobacco shop on the way (with a pleasant clerk), so you can buy transport tickets here if you don't have close to exact change (the machines in the stations limit the change back to 2 Euro).

The staff at the hotel really made the experience. They were all very friendly, and would greet you with a warm smile. The maid even changed out our bedspread on a daily basis, to give a bit of new design to the room (some of the bedspreads are quite vibrant and fun). When we found out that our departing flight took off too early to take the trains, they arranged a car for us (a new E-Class Mercedes, so not bad), so we were able to get to the airport stress-free in plenty of time.

The hotel had a breakfast daily as well -- mostly pastries, cereal, meat, cheese, juice, and coffee. It was more than enough to get us going each day.

Overall, I would say that this hotel exceeded my expectations. Sure, it wasn't perfect, but especially when you consider the cost, you will find this to be a spectacular value and cozy place to stay.

  • Liked — The convenience, the staff, the high ceilings in the rooms
  • Disliked — The bathroom could have been larger or better laid-out
