“Better than we expected”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

My husband got this hotel on special online without knowing it was this exact hotel. After we found out the name and read reviews, we were worried.
The hotel was better than we expected. Although further from the metro stop than indicated online, it was very quaint. The front desk clerk on check in evening wasn't the friendliest, but did recommend a restaurant that turned out to be very good.
The room was bigger than we anticipated. Small bathroom( but in Europe, be happy you have a private bath) with very nice water pressure in shower. Small tv and fridge and the bed was on the stiff side. We understand the road noise complaint, but you are in an old, big city.....we have had worse. The wifi was good, never had a problem with it. Made it helpful for research on the days activities and keeping in touch with home. We did get a glimpse of our neighbors room in the hotel and it was tiny. So the really small ones are there.
We are not sure if this should be a four star rated hotel, but it was nice. The breakfast was decent. Great coffee. Eggs, bacon and breads and cheeses. Yogurt and assorted cereals. We got a little bored with it after three days, but that's not the hotels fault.
Their website says they have laundry facilities, but they do not. And the laundry they sent us to was Very expensive!! Had I known, I would have just washed earlier in the sink and air-dried in the room. And they offered no apology or explanation about the website info.
I think we would stay here again, it was definitely worth the money we paid.

Room Tip: Note- there are no laundry facilities- even though their website says so. Ask for a corner room, t...

Art nouveau style is far away at this end of nineteenth century building, despite of some furniture in the lobby. And furniture there really are from different ages and times. reminds me more of a tasteless second hand gallery with naivistic paintings!
Tight rooms without nose isolation makes your vacation truly restless.
We had a room with a balcony and a view to the aquaducts, nice, but continuous traffic drops the joy.
Nice and helpful staff, though when I asked to have our boarding passes printed, there wasnt a printer in the hotel.
Breakfast is lower middle range, specially instant coffee machine(Rome!) drops their points.
How have they earned the fourth star?

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room beside the side street.

I booked this from Expedia's "secret" hotel since i was going to stay for one night anyway. I stayed here the night before leaving for a 7 days Costa cruise from Civitevecchia last Oct. This hotel is very far from the port at least over one hour! The room was so small that i had to turn my suitcase sideway to get to the bed! The bedding consisted of 2 pillows, fitted sheet and a top sheet only. The bathroom was surprising for it had a tub/shower combo for a small bathroom but it seemed clean. It was ok for a one night stay and to sleep in after my very long plane flights (2 stops) from California. After those very long flights i could have slept anywhere for that matter! Be aware that there's a room tax per night when you check out! The breakfast was ok with scrambled eggs, pastries, coffee and juices. I wouldn't recommend for a longer stay for it's located far from any of the tourist attractions ie Colosseum,Forum, Vatican etc. There are restaurants around the hotel which are ok too.

Once arriving at the hotel aftre getting lost as it is a fair way away from the Termini and most things, walking into the entrance we were pleasantly surprised as the grounds are lovely a little oais if you like. Checking in was not a problem either. The room was clean but small the two single beds were almost a double as there was probably about10 cm between them and not much space on either side to push them apart further although there was enough room to place our luggage on the floor at the end of the beds. The bathroom was clean and water pressure was good. The view from the window was quite nice on one side of the room but the walls must be paper thin as the neighbours in the room next door were quite noisy and spoke and watched tv until all hours which made it hard to sleep. Breakfast was simple, cereal, toast etc but enough to eat. The free wifi was a definate advantage. Staff were helpful booking us a car to the airport although not cheap the air con was worth it, so to was the extra night we paid for at full cost so we could have a shower before our 30 hour flight back to Australia as it was the middle of summer yes our choice, but they did allow us to stay in the same room for the couple of hours we needed it. But the highlight of our stay was our friendship with Nero the cat he made it all worth while.

We booked this hotel under a 'secret deal' claiming 4 star design hotel. It is not worth 4 stars! I would say 3 stars.
Rooms are very very small, barely any room each side of the bed, bathroom also very small. You could argue that in Rome you don't spend much time in the room, but even so, you could not swing a cat. Bed was hard and small (double). Worst thing to be honest was the noise from the road. Heavy traffic all the time and even with windows shut you can hear it quite clearly.
Pleasant outdoor courtyard space. Interesting reception/downstairs, unusual art, quite liked it. Breakfast ok though scrambled eggs were always cold (could do with a candle or something under the silver tin/tray to keep warm)! Do ask for a latte macchiato or other type of coffee if you want it as kitchen staff oblige.
Guy on front desk when I arrived rather surly and not very helpful! The other 2 staff on front desk quite pleasant.
Overall ok stay but wouldn't go back, we'd look for something else preferably where we could sleep more comfortably with no noise!

We stayed in the second week of October 2012 at this hotel.

The room was very small, not very clean and very noisy. The distance from the bed to the walls was 66 cm to the left and 89 cm to the right and 50 cm to the desk located in front of the bed

Super noisy because of the busy cobblestone street and thin walls You could hear the people in other room when they have a shower or using the bathroom. The door of the bathroom is sliding door and never could close. Bed was extremely uncomfortable and had dark color sheets. Wifi did not function in the room and even in the lobby had very poor signal.

The furniture was cheap and old. The mattresses hard and the beds are making noise. The pictures were chep and horrible.

There are no curtains to the windows.

The breakfast was average, coffee instant. They do have cappuccino so ask the person who is arranging the food there because otherwise nobody would offer you. Check the dishes because sometimes they are not washed well and they are still wet and with pieces of food left on them.

Overrated and this hotel is below expectation of 3 stars.

You could get a better value for your money in Hotel Milton Roma that is right near the Metro station Manzoni.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel, The room was small, not very clean and had strange smell. Bed was extremely uncomfortable. If we were in Rome for more than 2 nights we would have changed hotels. Wifi did not function in the room. Discuss problems with staff but no assistance provided. The breakfast was average.

The only good thing: location, entrance of the hotel

We traveled to many cities on this trip: Venice, Rome, Barcelona, Copenhagen, Vienna and Prague and this was the worst hotel that we stayed at.
