I have just returned from a week's holiday to Rome with my two teenage children . We stayed at the Hotel for 7 nights .The experience of the city of Rome was marvelous and the cultural aspect amazing Unfortunately I cannot say the same about the Hotel, for a 4 star Hotel it was amazing that we had problems getting adequate information from the staff about basic things like getting around ,best available transportation to town ( Hotel is not central but this adds to the adventure of the holiday ). There were different staff manning the reception and each person provided information when we asked , in dribs and drabs . The approach was to give a little piece of information and we were expected to figure out the rest ourselves .We expected the staff to be able to communicate in English to a good standard for the purpose of providing information ,unfortunately I can only give a 3 out of 10 for the service we got. This matter of inadequate information ended up costing us to lose 150 Euros of our holiday fund . Thankfully were took a tour bus on the 2nd day of our stay and got loads of information from the guide book . Coupled with a guide book purchased before leaving the UK we were able to get around the city of Rome like professional tourists.
Another point of discord was that this 4 star Hotel had no satellite facility and we were subjected to watching Italian channels (on a wooden box tv ) the limited time we were in the room . The only English channel was a music one ,which was only on late at night. Even CNN would have been adequate .There was no opportunity to watch any bit of the Olympics so were were in a bubble for 7 days ,without any news on what was happening in the rest of the world.
I expect with time this Hotel will catch up with the 21st century.
Breakfast service was adequate I must give credit to that and the staff in the restaurant were very efficient .
I will recommend this hotel for people willing to take the patience to spend a bit of time getting into the city centre but will advice using the bus(192) from outside the Hotel to the metro station, then go on the metro into the city centre rather than using the bus service numbers 192 and H .
Hotel ideal for families with teenagers .
