Although when first arriving tired, this hotel looked not so good...you have to go up one flight off street level to the front desk....but....my wife and I can't say enough about how gracious the front desk conciere named "Diego" was to us!! So welcoming and spoke excellent English...sold us tickets for the Metro and helped make our stay so pleasurable gave us maps, gave us use of a computer and internet connection.......All the people at the front desk couldn't do enough to make our stay so wonderful...the neighborhood was not far from the Piazza De La Republica, so it was safe and pleasant.
Breakfast in the morning was so nice...made me a special cappucino, cheeses and sweet rolls.....rooms were always clean and we would highly recommend this hotel for people who really just want a room that's clean to sleep in with pleasant help after a long day out in Rome...certainly not the Ritz, but more than adequate!!! Booked this hotel through our travel agent.

We stay at Hotel Ranieri for 4 nights. Unfortunately on the second day, money was taken from our room. The hotel took no responsibility for this loss even after promising to give us one night free. Also, the location is not very convenient.

this hotel did not resemble the description given on the website. the room , on entering, had a damp smell and there was visible damp on one wall. the porter was the only friendly member of staff that we encountered. the reception staff all spoke English but each encounter with them was as impersonal as the first. the room was cleaned each day but the carpet was only hoovered once during our week stay. while the breakfast was good the dining area was not always clean. the location of the hotel, near Termini station was handy for bus travel and there were some pleasant restaurants on the side streets nearby. however we daily passed what were obviously superior hotels which only heightened our sense of disappointment on returning to our room.

The hotel has a very friendly staff and standard european rooms. The bathroom in the room was clean and a nice size. The breakfast in the morning is fine with bread, pastries, meats, cheeses and cereal. The only downside to this hotel is the location as its a bit of a walk to any of the popular areas of Rome except Via Veneto. A good price for the room you get, but given how hard it is to get a cab in Rome during peak hours I'd think about staying somewhere else - if you don't mind the location then this is a decent hotel.

We stayed a Hotel Ranieri between 28 September and 5 October 2006. The room was clean and tidy with in house safe and trouser press! We had satellite TV and a comfortable bed as well. The bathroom appered reasonably new with plenty of fresh towels. The shower was over the bath with shower curtain. The staff spoke good english and were friendly and courteous.

My only main criticism is the Hotels location. Whilst it close enough to the main train station, it is a lengthy walk to any of the main tourist attractions (and I love to walk)! It takes about forty minutes brisk walking to Vatican City, twenty minutes to Trevi Fountain, thirty minutes to Colusseum etc.

Breakfast was okay with a selection of pasteries, cheeses and meats however the coffee was terrible. Get out of the Hotel and get an expresso from a nearby bar!!

I would probably try and find somewhere different next time and closer to the old town. In my opinion, the Hotel offers reasonable value for money (we paid 152 Euro per night)
