We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone coming to Rome for business or vacation. My husband was in Rome on business, and I met him there to spend some vacation time as well. We travel a fair amount, and we have stayed in really nice hotels, and some not-so-nice ones. We were very happy with this place, it was a perfect little boutique hotel for our time in Rome. It had charm and character, and good value for the money.
Service - Everyone at the front desk, specifically Adriano and Antonio, were extremely helpful and friendly. They were always waiting with a friendly "Ciao" or "Bonjourno"! They arranged car service for us to and from the airport, they helped my husband with taxis to work every day, and they even recommended restaurants in the area and called to make reservations for us. There is no restaurant at the hotel, but there is a cute little hotel bar in the back that you can always get a drink at. And they do serve you breakfast every day. It is a small continental-type selection, but everything was good and always tied us over until lunch. Try the red orange juice - it's yum!
Room - The room is not huge, but it was perfectly fine. Everything is impeccably clean, and they clean your room and give you new towels every day. The bed is a bit on the hard side, but we thought it was very comfortable and slept great every night. We didn't spend much time in the room, but when we did we felt very comfortable in there. There is free wi-fi in the room.
Location - The hotel is in a perfectly good location, unless you don't want to walk at all. But Rome is a walking city anyway - that is what you are supposed to do! Everywhere is so beautiful, we loved walking to and from attractions and restaurants every day and night. Hotel Ranieri is approximately 15-20 minute walk to the Trevi Fountain/Pantheon/Piazza Navona. The Colesseum and Trastevere were a bit further, maybe 30 minute walk or so. But everything from the Trevi Fountain was easy to get to, all easily walkable, or jump in a cab if you don't want to walk. The only thing that is a bit further and may require transportation other than walking was the Vatican. There really isn't anything to see right near the hotel, but again, it is an easy walk to many attractions and sites. The area around the hotel isn't too exciting, but we always felt very safe in the area, even me when I was walking by myself. There is a good little pizza place that we got pre-dinner pizza at a few times on the way into the city center, and that is a stone's throw away from the hotel.
Stay at Hotel Ranieri, you will be happy you did. You get what you pay for, and you will not be disappointed with the value you get there for the money you spend.

The reception staff were very helpful. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The area was very good, plenty of restaurants nearby. no complaints what so ever. Drinks in the hotel bar were reasonably priced . Would definately return and recommend to anyone visiting this fantastic city.

just arrived back from a weekend break with my husband and friends at ths hotel. it was a great hotel the staff are great and very helpful especially when our pre booked taxi did not arrive to take us back to the airport . The receptionist kept ringing them for us and then arranged another taxi which got us to the airport with 5 mins spare(the taxi company was www.rome-transfer.eu do not use them)
the rooms although ours was a bit on the small size (ours friends were luckier and had a bath and balcony) were immaculate and cleaned every day,the breakfast was a continental one but there was plenty and it was always nice.
I would definetly recomend this hotel it was great value for money ,the location was good but the staff were excellent very friendly and helpful.

Rome is fabulous and the trip to the Vatican Museum which I prebooked with the vatican official site was amazing and worth every penny.
My only advice is to take comfortable shoes as you will need them

Me and my girlfreind stayed in Hotel Ranieri for 3 nights, and the overall expirience was far from being good.

The location of the hotel is good. It is located pretty close to the central station, however if you have heavy luggage - suggest not to repeat our mistake and to walk with it to the hotel, since it takes at least 10-15 minutes to arrive the hotel by walk if you have luggage. Suggest to take a taxi which will cost about 5-7 Euros.

The service is ok. The receptionists speaks fluent English, helpfull and freindly.

There are: Television, air-conditioner, mini-bar and a deposit box. There is also electronic iron board (probably this device have different name which is unknown to me :-) ) which is very nice for ironing trousers, if you are going for business trip. The window has a view to the main street, however the sound isolation from outside is fairly good.

Now to the negative issues. First of all, the building is very old, and the hotel rooms are mixed with living house apartments. There are some floors that completely dedicated to the hotel rooms, and some which are completely living apartments of citizens. There is only 1 old elevator, which is very slow, and we usually preferred to go down stairs using the stairs, since we preferred not to wait for it.
We booked a double room, and a fact of double-king size bed was emphasized in the booking stage, and during the check-in. However in fact we got 2 single beds standing together (and even not tied together) - i/o 1 double bed. When I have approached the receptionist - he advised that they have only such kind of beds. The shower is not clean, with some signs of corrosion.
The room looks nice, however it feels old. The room was cleaned on daily basis.

The breakfast is ok, offers bread (not too fresh), cheese, ham, good coffee and juice. The red orange juice was extreamly good.

There no wireless internet in the rooms, however there is a computer with internet access in the bar, which may be used for free.

The prices are not low (have paid 150 Euro per night incl. breakfast for a double room), however comparing to the rest of the 3 stars hotels in Rome - the price is ok.

To summarize would say that I have expected much more from 3 stars hotel which costs 150 Euros per night. If you can find better hotel for similar or slightly higher price - would reccomend not to stay in that one.

  • Liked — The ironing board. The great red orange juice at the breakfast. Nice receptionist.
  • Disliked — The separate beds. Not clean bathroom. Old building with 1 elevator.

Hotel Ranieri was exactly what we wanted. They were able to accomidate 3 rooms for 3 couples at a very competitive price. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. There was renovations being done on the exterior of the hotel which made it a little difficult to find but still we found it. The hotel is very modern. The rooms all had air conditioning, televisions, mini fridge/bar and private bathrooms. There are multiple stairs but they have an elevator so it's not a problem. They have a bar by reception, which we used almost daily to meet the family and have a pre dinner beer or wine. Thanks Carlo!!!! They also offer free internet access. Breakfast was good: ham, cheese, salami, croissants, cereal, yogurt. With a variety of different juices and breads. My favorite was the espresso machine. It has cappuchino, espresso, american coffee, plus more, all with a push of a button. The staff was friendly, offered great dinner suggestions and were very helpful with transportation advice. The location was great. It was away from the very touristy parts of town which is exactly what we wanted. A few blocks away is the metro station, bus is across the street, and shops and restaurants all very close. We walked to the Trevi Fountain, Borghese Park, and Spanish Steps easily. Termini station is also a few blocks away.
I would definitely stay there again and would reccommend to anyone.

My only negative: There is no clock in the room. We had no idea what time it was the entire time we were there. So my only suggestion would be to get a clock for the room.
