The hotel is nice enough, it was clean and although the somewhat small dark room we were allocated was comfortable it had all I wanted, a clean bathroom and bed. It had a TV and mini bar with safe, and was adequate for 4 days. To be honest you spend so much time sightseeing I did not want much more.
One tip, unelss you are made of money don't ask reception to recommend a place to eat, there are so many really great places to eat if you look and at very reasonable prices.
The hotel is in a very good location some 5/10mins walk from the Trevi Fountain and if you pass That's Amore call in for a meal as the food and service was fab, and a good price too.

We booked this hotel upon recommendation by our travel agent. I considered cancelling after reading the nasty reviews---! This hotel was wonderful-----Very clean, our room was attractive & quite large (Sitting area included, & all expected amenities), the staff was very friendly, & very helpful....(Good recommendations, confirmed our taxi pick-up time, watched at the door for taxi arrival (4:00 am!) & more!)

Breakfast was excellent--many selections.......& actually, much better than some of our U.S. continental style breakfasts!

So, upon completing our sixth visit to Rome, & staying in the Bernini Hotel several times in the the past........Quatto Fontane Hotel is a much better value, & every bit as comfortable! I feel very qualified to say that this hotel is my pick!!!

Our stay at this hotel very pleasantly surprised me, having read other reviews (after I had booked), I was quite concerned about some of the comments that were being made and I thought I had made a mistake in booking. However: Yes, the rooms were fairly small, but they were very clean and tidy, bathrooms were clean and well stocked, and after all, we were just sleeping there. The guy(s) at reception weren't too talkative, but they were very helpful and friendly and recommended very nice restaurants and things to do. Barking dog?, heard a dog bark a couple of times but that was all. Location was excellent, 5 mins from Spanish steps, 5 mins from Trevi fountain, 1 min from Piazza Barberini wre you can catch the open top bus ride. Had a wonderful time in Rome.

I was pretty concerned after booking this hotel when reading this site's reviews. However, my fears were misplaced. The hotel was decent - we had a decent sized room, a nice bathroom and it was clean. Hot water ran all day long. The reception staff were not the friendliest, but their service was ok. However, one exception to this was Stephano, who was a nice fella and sent us to a very decent restuarant. They also kindly made a booking for an airport transfer. I would say that there is nothing wrong with the hotel from our experience, except for the fact that the hotel is on a very busy street and it is noisy when the windows are open at night. 3 out of 5 is my verdict. The cost of the hotel was well within our budget. Perhaps it was due to the fact that I booked the hotel through a package tour operator, Citalia, that the hotel made an effort. I have stayed in far worse hotels in my time and this hotel was not bad at all. I suppose that the bad reviews on this site may have a lot to do with personal experience. You only hear the bad and very seldom the good. I would recommend this hotel.
