We initially booked this hotel because of its close location to the train station (we arrived from the airport and took the train in).

We arrived late morning to be greeted by a surly looking chap in reception. Initially he told us we had no reservation. After we produced a confirmation letter with the reservation code he immediately changed his tune and told us currently all the rooms were being cleaned, so he'd put us up in an apartment around the corner.

This sounded ilke a good idea at first (who wouldnt prefer an apartment over a hotel room?). How wrong I was. 'Around the corner" actually meant a 10 minute walk away, into a much more seedy looking area (my wife said she didnt feel safe).

The apartment was big, but quite dirty. We contemplated trying to change back to a room but after carrying our luggage all the way plus the flight, we just didnt have the energy.

Luckily we were only staying 2 nights and were out sightseeing most of the time. But I'd recommend if you do book this hotel, and get offered an apartment upon check-in, politely decline it.

Management response from HOTELRIMINI, owner
(Management representative)
Jan 11, 2009
These clients were not booked in our hotel, the fault , mistake and resposability was fom their agency wich issued the voucher and did not made the confirmation to our hotel, anyway our staff tried to help them and since May is an HIGH season period and was almost unpossible to find an accomodation at reasonable rates in other establishements.
So the receptionist offered them a private apartment and after their visit clients accepted the accomodation - they did not pay anything - they did not liked the aparment ... so we do not understand why they left a negative feedback and a bad judgement for the Hotel..in which they never stayed...as for their same admission...

I’ve stayed at the Rimini Hotel for a week in February 2007, in a double room for which I have paid 80 Euro / night by voucher from the travel agency. The main trump of the hotel is his central location, being placed at 2 minutes walking from Termini central station (and related subway station) and 3 minutes from Cinquecento Place where many busses have their end-stops. At the same time there are very good connections with the airports through the shuttle bus lines (the stop is near the railway station) – 30 minutes to Fiumicino (Leonardo da Vinci) and 40 minutes to Ciampino.

The endowments of the rooms complies with and even exceeds the 3*** standard and breakfast is buffet type.

Because I was very content with the stay at Rimini Hotel, I bought again 2 twin rooms for 3 nights at beginning of November 2008, at the same price, for my relatives. On their return they thanked me for the choice I made, telling me they were very pleased with this hotel and with the services offered (very quick check-in and check-out, cleanliness, comfort and soundproofness of the rooms). Another good mark for the kindness of the staff and especially for the manager Massimo Alessi, always ready to solve any request regarding the stay at the hotel and to provide full information about the transport in Rome and the places worth visiting. I’ll choose the Rimini Hotel for my next visit in Rome as well and I recommend it to all tourists, irrespective of age, who want to profit by the services of a good hotel at decent prices.

Basic, old small hotel, clean, with nice modern bathroom. Approx 50 metres to Rome Railway Termina which was great for overnight. Basic breakfast. Friendly staff and nothing was too much trouble.
Highly recommend for a night as we were catching the train to Venice the next morning. No hassles getting cases to, and onto train.
We usually stay in much better and more expensive places but this Hotel suited our needs. Would stay there again for convenience. Was recommended by our friends.
A fair walk to main tourist places but as we had spent time in Rome 2 years ago, it was great to revisit our favourite places again.

  • Liked — Close to the Rome Railway TerminaN

My Husband and I checked into Rimini and handed over our Passports as you do in Italy a pleasant enough man was just fine ( I think he was the Manager).

On our return from sightseeing I had to phone a tour company to confirm a pickup early the next morning - I had no information in the room to tell me how to use the phone (my mobile was out of battery) so I went to Reception to get details and retreave the Passports - another man was now on Reception - a very rude man - he asked what my Room No was and heaven forbid I said the wrong one - he told me I could not possibly be staying at Rimini - I assured him I was - he marched me over to another section where he called out to people to see if they recoginised me (of coarse they did not) still abusing me - apparently another Hotel uses some rooms on certain floors - I pointed to where my Passports were and he handed them to me with no apology.

We were to stay just one night on this occasion but were returning after a 2 night trip to Sorrento - I thought great.

Even so, the Hotel itself was good - the rooms sufficient - and on our return were given a lovely room on the 5th floor with a balcony - I only saw the rude man once and did not have to deal with him.

All other staff were lovely expecially the man on the desk when we returned for our second visit.

Breakfast was good and fresh coffee made to your liking.

We were leaving to go to Tuscany by train so we needed to be near Termini - good location just at the end of the street - we did not see of have any trouble in this area what so ever and felt safe walking around in the evening.

I would stay at Rimini again and my only wish would be not to encounter the "very rude man" again.

  • Liked — Our room had a balcony/courtyard - that was great
  • Disliked — The rude man on reception

I Stayed in Rimini November 07 and found it to be good value for what you pay. The rooms are fine, better than what we expected, compared to other places around Rome that are double in price and very dodgy.
It is very central being next to the main train station, we even walked to the Colosseum, which is quite a walk but good exercise.
We found the staff to be nice enough, you can get some poor hotel staff around Europe. I would say Rimini is a good stop over place. If you want to spend 2-3 days exploring Rome and then move on to another destination i don't think you could better, being so close to the train station.

  • Liked — Price, Location
  • Disliked — I know i said location is great but it is still dodgy in Rome
