This hotel is brilliantly situated for a visit to downtown Roma. Turn left out of the hotel and you've got the Metro (100m), turn right and a short walk up the hill takes you to Termini station. Buses and taxis are everywhere. It;s a short walk down the hill to the Forum and Colosseum (grab a cappucchino at the Bar Venzia, on the corner opposite the Metro, best in the area). ATM halway down on the right, takes all the major cards.
You can go anywhere from here.
As to the hotel, rooms were clean, fresh towels daily, ensuite small, but hey, how much time are you spending in there? Oh, plenty of hot water. No tea/coffee making facilities when we were there but you can get it brought up to your room, go to sleep with a vino.
Receptionists' English better than mine and all the staff we met were polite, friendly and helpful. We've re-booked for July 2010 already.
Tips: Tabacchis - you will see this sign a lot, not just a tabacconist, get your Metro/bus tickets, stamps, phone cards and a few other things here, but beware, a lot of them are closed on Sundays so get everything you are likely to need on Saturday.
Good 'supermarket' , the Elite, on the left walking down the hill, just past the Metro, again, closed on Sunday. All else fails, turn right coming out of the hotel and there is a Korean supermarket a few doors up, more expensive than the Elite.
Beer is expensive in the bars here, but you can stock up in a supermarket cheaply (the hotel rooms have a fridge).
Crossing the road, it's not the cars that will get you, it's the scooters, you have been warned.
I could go on and on but I'll just say the we are the wrong side of 55 (but young and definitely active) and this place was perfect for us.
Looking forward to getting back.
