We called an afternoon of the week before our arrival to this charming hotel in order to ask some info. From this point on the staff were very helpful with directions, and also by arranging the pick up at the airport, setting up travel arrangements for two tours, and booking a table at a nearby restaurant which was excellent (in the area there are many good ones at better prices if you compare with those next to the main tourist sights ).
The location is excellent, it is in a quiet street, but so close to everything. Next to Interior Ministry (the Home Office), so we felt safe, and at about 15 mins to the Colosseum and at comfortable walking distance to the Trevi fountain .
It seems they are upgrading the hotel as we saw renovation works going on. Anyway our room was clean and the bathroom had a fairly powerful shower. We had a mini bar, a free safe and air-con was OK.
The breakfast served by a nice and funny old man, was more than enough to keep you going until lunch. It was a buffet with juices, milk, bread rolls, cereals, boiled eggs, fruits, cold meats, slices of water melon, cake, etc… . There is also has a small garden area for breakfast.
We enjoyed the roof. The hotel has 2 roof terraces with lovely views over the city. I personally love the sunset moment.
The reception staff were mostly friendly. They allowed us to leave luggage in the hotel throughout the day on our last day so we could pick it up later without dragging it around the city all day before our flight back. The hotel also has a gym but we already walked so much !
My own rating for this hotel is four stars. We would certainly recommend it. Overall we found Viminale was a pleasant place to stay for a decent price in an expensive city. Definitely would love to return to this enchanting city to explore more MAGIC it has to offer!
