LOCATION: Good location, handy for metro. Next to Italian Interior Ministry, so felt very safe at night as lots of police patrolling. Lots of restaurants around. Be careful cashing travellers cheques - very high commission charged (up to 17%). There is an American Express office next to the Spanish Steps which will change them for no commission.
ROOM: Room was pretty clean, but was dusty under beds. Bathroom was clean and recently installed. The decor was pretty tired - wallpaper torn, carpets could've done with a good clean.
STAFF: The night time staff were very friendly and helpful, whereas the day time staff were the opposite. In particular, Salvatore was extremely rude. We complained about the breakfast (see below) but he refused to take us seriously. Treated us very rudely and began to ignore us, refusing to speak to us - not very professional at all!
BREAKFAST- Absolutely dusgusting! On the first morning, we went down to breakfast (just after 10am - it was open until 10.30 on sunday). The staff were beginning to pack away breakfast although we were told it was open for another 30 mins. The food was off. There was a bowl of kiwi fruit which was rotten (it had big black marks in it and was mushy) and literally crawling with flies (about a dozen). I decided to give this a miss but my girlfriend had a bowl of cereal - the milk was sour and very hot - it was obviously milk from during the week which hadn't been refrigerated properly. As mentioned before, complaint not taken seriously. Had to buy breakfast outside the hotel every day.
