We stayed at the Viminale the first week in October 2007. It was our first time in Rome. The staff were all very helpful with directions and setting up travel arrangements for tours. The breakfast was adequate and the coffee the best we've had in a long time which is quite a compliment since we're from Seattle. The location is excellent. A comfortable walking distance to the Colosseum, Trevi and main bus station. Our room had a balcony with a nice view. The bathroom tub was a little smaller than what we were used to but very deep. The bed was comfortable and the room kept clean. I would definately stay there again.

Good position for visiting "Old Rome".
Bed linen and towels very clean. Staff friendliness and breakfast acceptable.
The room was a good size if a little tired.
Hotel was let down by the bathroom which was very shabby (but clean).

found the hotel clean and well kept, lift worked all the time. staff very friendly and helpful. our room had good comfortable twin beds and full working shower. room was clean. we were lucky our room was adjacent to one of the roof balconeys. on arrival had problem with door locking, reported to the desk and workman attended very quickly and solved problem. we stayed 4 nights, although the breakfast was average, there was a lot of it. next time im in rome will be staying there.

Having read the recent reviews before travelling, we thought that the hotel would be OK. We found the hotel to be in a good central location, very close to Colosseum and with easy walking distance of most attractions. Unfortunately that was the only plus for us the minuses were
Reception staff very unfriendly and not helpful
Breakfast boring, fresh debatable,
No room service or bar area - mini bar in your room but no glasses.
Bathroom dirty ,no shower, just hand shower head.
Room - beds were both camp beds. Not very clean and smelt of tobacco. Wardrobes were shabby, safe had no instructions, Cable TV was just MTV.
We knew we would be out most of the time whilst in Rome but still wanted to be able to go back after a hard day walking and sight seeing to relax, that's what we wanted from a hotel we did not find this at the Viminale.
