Hotel Dorica has everything that can make a stay in Rome comfortable. The owner, Peter, is friendly, helpful and efficient. He understands the off-season. The hotel offers great rates at the moment. A double room for 75 Euro a night is a steal. Rooms 23 and 24 share a small courtyard at the back and are ideal for smokers. The rooms have double-paned windows and so even the street-facing rooms are quiet. The decor may be generic, but the rooms are more spacious than an average room in Europe (where sometimes there's room for one suitcase at best, apart from the guest). The bathrooms look new. Apart from minor things like body lotion, I can't think of anything that was missing.

Peter, originally from Ancona on the eastern coast of Italy, has visited NY and SF several times. He's worldly-wise and funny. He and his daughter, Emmanuella, run a very efficient hotel. The breakfast is good, although not elaborate, but the service ensures you have a good start to your morning. There's an alternative in the Gran Caffe Piacente, next door, which opens at 6 a.m. You could also go there for a drink in the evening - munchies are free.

Most sightseeing spots are walkable from Piazza Viminale. You may need to take the metro to go to the Vatican, and there are two Metro stations - Repubblica and Termini - that are close to Viminale. A cab ride to, say Piazza Navona, costs single-digit euros. Another plus is that the shops in this area are not tourist-traps.

Dorica concentrates on the basics and gets them right. Therefore, it is very good value, one of the best I've seen in Europe.

It was a great stay at Dorica hotel. It is at walking distance from interesting sites such as the Trevi fountain, the Spanish Steps and shopping areas. Restaurants are all around and in the evening it is a very safe to go around.
The rooms were always very, very clean and the view from the room was amazing!!! The hosts are lovely people and very helpful... always ready to help and give suggestions.
Looking forward to go back to Rome and Dorica Hotel :)

The hotel is located half way between the Colusseum and the Spanish steps. All other major sights are also in walking distance.

The hotel is run by an Italian couple who made us (2 adults and 2 children aged 7 and 10) feel very welcome and at home.

The hotel is clean and everything worked (including the air conditioning).

The owners as well as the staff were very helpful.

The breakfast is basic but ok.

This is a hotel suitable for young families.

My fiancée and I stayed in this hotel for 6 nights in May. The best part of this hotel is it's proximity to all the major sites in Rome. It is also close to some very fine restaurants. The Termini station is only a few minutes walk from the hotel. The owner of the hotel was very kind to help us make a reservation in Firenze. I definitely recommend this property. Do not forget to ask for the special honeymoon rate and you will receive a surprise gift.

We stayed 5 nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The location is perfect for sightseeing, within walking distance of Colosseum, Trevi fountain, Pantheon, Vittorio Emaneule Monument and Piazza Navona.
Very good selection of restaurants and Bars nearby.
Metro/trains and buses 7/8 minute walk with a Supermarket 2 minutes around the corner.
The Hotel is basic but it is spotlessly clean. Our room was a good size with a very comfortable bed, great shower and lovely view over Piazza.
The hotel Staff were very friendly and helpful.
We would definately recommend this Hotel and would not hesitate to go back.
