Do not rely on the "complimentary shuttle service" advertised by this hotel. We chose this hotel our last night for the sole purpose of easily being able to use the shuttle to get to the train station and then Fiumicino airport. Hoped to avoid the steep cab fares and having to drag bags through Rome.

HOWEVER, the shuttle never showed up the next morning. The hotel offered no assistance and showed me a printout of the shuttle times with a disclaimer that says, "The hotel denies any responsibility for delays due to traffic jam, lack of seats, and/or breakage of the vehicle." This is not on the website. They did try to call the driver, but got no reponse. That was the extent of their "help". Ironic that even though the shuttle has the hotel name on the side, they deny responsibility. HMMMMMMM...

I ended up paying $60 for a cab to the airport and lost the money I had spent on the train tickets.

10 or so other people were also planning on going into Rome for the day and were quite irate themselves.

I had stayed in Rome the other nighs of my trip and had no issues. If you're looking for a neat experience, may I suggest renting an apartment. We rented two separate apartments through htt---------- and had a wonderful experience. Excellent locations and VERY helpful, VERY friendly landlords/managers. Convenient locations within walking distance of all the sites of Rome.

Stay away from the Sheraton! I was seething the entire flight back to the US!

I stayed in this hotel for 3 nights in Feb 2005 with my Starwood Points.
PROS: - You know what to expect. The lowest quality Sheraton but OK for one night. The price for 1 night was EUR 115 w/buffet breakfast. The staff is friendly and willing to help. The issue about the magnetic key for the door is sometimes usual in many hotels. The thing about the swimming cap doesn´t make your stay better or worse and you look really funny with it! Take a pic!


CON: A very important CON is the location. It is very far from the center of Rome. If you do not get the shuttle or miss it, you will have to take the metro from Rome to a bus station and then a bus to the hotel. At least 80-90 minutes. Same thing when you go the other way.

The shuttle service is not the best since it sometimes leaves the designated places BEFORE the scheduled time. So you get there on time and it´s gone. One thing you can do is phone the hotel and tell them to ring the driver and let him know that you will be there. It works.

TIP FOR ROME AIRPORT: When you arrive, even late at night, do not choose to take the "non-official" taxis offered to you at loud voice. They charge sometimes twice the regular taxis. Get in line with the locals waiting for cabs and eventually yours will come. I got in at 1AM and waited 15 minutes but paid 30 euro instead of 50 to the Hotel. During working hours taxis are there in millions

We were to leave on a cruise from the port for Rome and fortunately came upon the Four Points by Sheraton. It was convenient to the airport, yet far enough away to avoid the noise, convenient to Rome and to the Port. Shuttle buses provided convenient transportation to all three locations. The accommodations were good, the price was right (90 euros-6/10/04-including breakfast), and we enjoyed our stay. Next time we leave on a cruise from the area, we will not hesitate making reservations at this convenient hotel.

The short version: After an incredible trip to Positano and one of the finest hotels in the world, The Eden Roc, we VERY unfortunately chose the Four Points Sheraton in Rome for last night of Italian sojourn. Start with "we no longer have the non-smoking" rooms available to forbidding access to the swimming area without bathing caps--for guys with short hair! The real "coup de crap" was the "electronic monitoring system" whereby without a key in the slot within the room, no electrical functions are in service--including Air Conditioning with temperatures over 104 degrees--an of course no charging of computers, etc unless you are in the room with key in slot. Add to this the total disregard for wake up calls to make flights and then double billing---What a nightmare! Do not go--Four Points is not Four Star.
