Beware...,
this was to be the last vacation before having a child, My pregnant wife my Mother and I were to spend our Italian vacation in a easy central location of Rome, after an exhausting flight we took a Taxi to the hotel unloaded our luggage and made our way to the 4 th floor check in to find out we had no rooms, they calimed the authorities closed many rooms for some reason never explained to us and that we would be put up in thier sister hotel 1 mile away!. I was told that the manager of both hotels would be a the other location so we packed everything into a small taxi and were driven to the other hotel.
Guess what, no manager, only some 17yr old kid with broken english that shrugged everytime we ask for proper accommodations or a manager. Now we felt like hostages, tired, confused, frustrated and late at night, we took the rooms offered. This was no 4 star hotel, small rooms small bathroom, no stand up shower and a window view of a noisey alley.
After many repeated attempts to talk to the manager or demand some refund we were told that any compensation would come from our travel company and not the hotel. This seemed to be a normal occurance for these guys. So our last blast was a tedious existence in a small shabby oddly decorated hotel some distance from our original booking. We are still trying to get a refund but our travel comapny cannot reach any reply from the hotel management. Good luck if you book here!.

On arrival at this hotel we were informed that the local authorities had closed 5 out of the 10 rooms so the hotel management had booked us into an alternative hotel. This alternative hotel (Embassy) was a 3 * hotel and was filthy so we refused and, after many phone calls, the travel agent found an acceptable alternative.

We've traveled through Europe quite a bit and are used to the small rooms and minimal amenities. Palio Bianco was fine - if you pay under 100 euros/night and simply want a place to sleep and a quick shower. It is not a 4 star hotel and you should not pay more than 100 or even 80 euros a night to stay here. The staff was nice and the location is good, but the hotel is not very nice.

We were told this was a four-star hotel. More appropriately, it should have been described as a place you could rent a room by the hour. Yes, it does have an excellent location but there are a lot of excellent hotels in the same area. The room we were shown to had stains on a carpet which had not been vacuumed in quite a while. The television did not work. The only closet could not hang a full length coat and could not fit more than 5 hangers. There was no other storage space. Two of us could not have our suitcases open at the same time. The bathroom in my dorm room in college was more appealing. The only towels provided are what other hotels had provided as face towels. There was no tub only a shower stall with a rubber mat and a flimsly plastic shower curtain. The concierge was a table in the lobby on which were stacked about 10 phonebooks. We were told breakfast would be served in the room...we did not stay around to find out. We went to a real four-star hotel a block away.

I was there in March of 2003. The hotel is located in the perfect spot for walking tours all over the city. Everything was within walking distance. The hotel itself being at the most famous landmark of Rome, The Spanish steps, was wonderful. With all of the famous shopping streets ending at the hotel everything was within reach. I would recomend this hotel to anyone going and have already. Im planning my next trip in March and will plan to stay there.
