“Nice hotel, good location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2013

Nice and quiet hotel with a very friendly staff. Good location, 5 in walk from Colosseum and Termini station. Lovely rooftop terrace with a fantastic view. Breakfastbuffet was good. I would absolutely recommend this place to my friends!

Loved this hotel, excellent location and very quiet as it's not on a main road.
Great value for money, and staff were very helpful and friendly, I would defiantly recommend.
The hotel was very clean and the breakfast was just what you needed to start a busy day.
Couldn't fault it.

Karen
We stayed only one night between our cruise and the balance of our trip. The staff was very helpful, the location was great. They had maps and helped us locate everything we needed. They called a cab for our trip to the airport. The hotel was walking distance from the transportation hub [The Termini], and from the Coliseum and other ancient Roman sites. The staff directed us to the many restaurants nearby, and the hotel served a very nice continental breakfast. The view from the roof garden was terrific. The room was compact but well thought out and everything was clean and comfortable. There was a shower room separate from the sink/toilet bathroom.

Room Tip: We were on the fifth floor. The room was quiet with a nice view.

This hotel is perfect if you want to stay confortably but at a reasonable price. The hotel is rustic and cosy, the staff is kind and the reception is open 24/7. We got a lovely small terrace without extra cost which really added to the nice experience. The roof terrace is incredibly nice too, and they cleaned the room every day. Drinks from the bar were nice and not all that expensive. There were no hassles whatsoever staying here. The only thing that keeps it from gaining five plus is the breakfast, which is a little too basic for a hotel of this class. No fresh fruit or vegetables, only very plain white bread and yoghurt in plastic boxes. But all in all, great place!

This is an amazing place to stay in Rome. It's location is superb, the staff is incredibly accomidating, and the rooms are clean and charming. Not only were we walking distance from many attractions and right around the corner from a metro stop, several of the front desk attendents spent long times on hold with Alitalia fighting for me to get my bag back. The view from our room was great and breakfast was superb as well. Do yourself a favor and stay here!

Room Tip: The higher the room, the better the view. Some lower rooms have nice terraces though.

I stayed at this hotel for a week with my husband and members of our group. The hotel staff are helpful, well-informed, and friendly. They provided a useful map of Rome and helped with directions and travel tips. The room was very clean, comfortable, and well lit. The firm mattress and window blinds provided the opportunity for good sleep. Air conditioning was a nice treat after a warm day of sight seeing, and the shower was good. The breakfast was very good and included a wide variety of choices (bread, pastry, hard boiled eggs, cheese, meat, jam and nutella, yogurt, cereal, juice, milk, American coffee). We also enjoyed the cappuccino at breakfast. The rooftop terrace offers a nice view, and several guests had drinks brought to them as they relaxed there. Internet access was generally reliable and fast. Also, the metro, beautiful sights, and good restaurants are within easy walking distance. Highly recommended!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Hotel Colosseum, a magnificent terrace overlooking Rome... Welcome to Hotel Colosseum. You are in the characteristic Rione Monti, one of the oldest and most picturesque neighbourhoods of the "Eternal City", in the peaceful and quiet Via Sforza, at n°10. Thanks to our exclusive location, in the centre of Monumental Rome, you will have the opportunity to visit the main tourist attractions on foot. In the immediate vicinity of the hotel, you will find the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, the Colosseum and the Domus Aurea. Crossing Via Cavour will take you to Via Urbana. Called "Vicus Patricius" in antiquity, it is remembered above all for the visits, which tradition claims were made by St. Peter to the house of a Christian senator here. A short, scenic walk along the streets of Rome will also take you to the Imperial Fora and the Church of S. Pietro in Vincoli, which houses Michelangelo's famous statue of Moses. Hotel Colosseum is located at one of the highest points of Esquiline Hill and provides a 360° panoramic view of Rome and its surroundings from a splendid, furnished terrace on the eighth floor of the building, where the guests can enjoy the view while savouring a drink from our bar. All the rooms and common areas of the hotel have Wi-Fi coverage. An internet point is also available for use. At the reception, you can get information about all means of travelling through the city (taxi and bus services, car, scooter and bicycle rentals) and about guided tours. The stops of numerous city buses are a few meters from Hotel Colosseum and the "Cavour" (Line B) metro stop is about 3 minutes away on foot. The Termini railway station is 700 meters away. The hotel is situated in the historical centre of Rome, outside the limited traffic zone (ZTL); therefore, it is possible to get to us by car and park in the nearby partner garage. Otherwise, it is possible to book our fixed-price transfer and airport pick-up/drop-off service. ... more   less
