Hotel Commodore is in an excellent location - near the main Termini station and right by the first stop of the 'Ciao' Hop-on Hop-off bus tour. The Colusseum is walkable in about 15 mins.
The hotel claims its a 4 star which I dont agree with. There was no tea/coffee making facilities and the rooms and rooms are pretty basic (our room was also quite gloomily decorated but that did not really matter). We tried to open our window at night which turned out to appear to be opening the next rooms window too!!
Rooms had mini-bar, tv (only 1 english channel), safe and ensuite (with the worlds smallest shower!!).
Breakfast was a buffet style with cereal, croissants, rolls, orange juice, tea/coffee, cold meats, yoghurts etc.
Staff were friendly and helpfull and we were able to leave our luggage on our last day as we didnt fly till the evening.
Fabulous location but more a 3 star hotel.

No tea or coffee facilities in the room. The walls are a bit thin too so you might wake up the same time as the room next to you. Breakfast was quite plain. The only hot food was eggs but no toast and the fruit was all tinned.
However, staff were quite friendly and helpful. The place was clean and it is close to a decent train line at Termini.

We were just looking for a basic hotel close to the train station and that is what we found with the Commodore. It calls itself a 4 star, but that is a little high. No complaints, though. The rooms were fine, and the ensuite adequate. Service was very friendly. The airconditioning is in the hallways, not the rooms (not an issue in June). The wireless internet worked fine and is complementary. There is a small bar and breakfast was included (but did not try them out). Good value for money.

I spent 2 nights there because of a conference nearby. A very sad place. They really got their stars in the '70. Everything is old and worn out (carpet, bathroom, staircase). Perhaps it is clean but it does not look like. The location is ok, but not the best place in Rome. Service rude as usual in Rome. I would not go there, it is a waste of money!

Good location, close to major sights such as Colosseum, walking distance from others such as the Trevi Fountain, etc. Clean and simple accommodation, reasonable price, and the breakfasts were a bonus.
