We were very pleased with the accomodations. Plenty of room for the 5 of us. Very close to the Vatican and bus routes. The hill is steep and limited sidewalk space and some traffic at times.
Yes there is road and train traffic noise but we slept fine. Spent 8 nights there and felt we made a good choice. When we spent our last night in a regular hotel by the airport, and we really missed the space, even with having two connecting rooms.
The staff was very helpful for all our needs.

This was my second stay at the Aurelia Residence and it was fantastic. Paula, Diana, Anna and Ferdinand are wonderful host and made our stay in Rome for 9 days the best of our trip to Europe. Gennero greated our family daily on the rooftop terrace for a fabulous breakfast and always made sure that we had everything that we needed.
Our apartment was large and very clean. We had three balconies. The grounds are very lush with lots of plants and flowers.
Probably the only negative of the whole stay was the beds had slats that would sometimes come off in the middle of the night. These beds must be new since the last time that I stayed there. It would be better if the Aurelia returned to regular box spring mattresses.
We booked this apartment directly with the Aurelia Residence and had excellent communication with Paula. She answered all my emails right away.
We look forward to traveling again to Rome and will definitely stay at the Aurelia.

We stayed at the Aurelia Res. for two nights as part of a group of 15 adults and found it very suitable, especially for the price.

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful with all of our requests and the breakfast was excellent and varied.

Our rooms were clean, spacious and well supplied (three towels each and not all tiny ones - almost unheard of in mid-range accom in Europe!) though the beds weren't particularly comfortable but that is usually a given in this price range.

As posted previously, the location is a little way out from the main sights unless your focus is the Vatican but there are plenty of bus stops nearby.

Pros
- Space: There is lots of room. Our apartment had a kitchen, living room, large bedroom, foyer, and 2 Balconies
- Customer Service: The friendly and helpful staff make you feel welcome. They were also very helpful with our museum reservations.
- Breakfast: There is a big breakfast with lots of variety.
- Extras: Free internet access
- Rate: Comparatively low, although they did charge us for an extra night we couldn't use when our flight delays forced us to arrive 12 hours late.
Cons
- Location: Pretty far from everything but Vatican City. We had to take cabs everywhere.
- Noise: There is a busy street on one side and frequent trains on the other side. It was hard to sleep. Could also hear people snoring in the next room.
- Bed: The bed was very uncomfortable. Pillows were very lumpy and uncomfortable.

Sep 15, 2006 | Trip type: Couples

My wife and I stayed at the Aurelia Residence for 5 nights at the beginning of September.
The staff are outstanding - all of them - and we were really made to feel at home. It was more of a family experience than anything. They went out of their way to welcome us, advise us and be generally helpful.
We were given an upgraded apparment, so it was absolutely huge for just the 2 of us, but it was well-furnished, clean, well-equipped. The kitchen is fine for preparing meals. Somewhat minimal service - room gets bed made/towels changed every day, but cleaned only 2/week and no service on Sunday.
The breakfast buffet is fantastic at this season, on the roof terrace, under the dome of St. Peters.
The negative is the location. It's fine for the Vatican, just 5 minutes walk from St. Peters/Vatican, but it's a bit out of the way for other tourist attractions in central Rome. It's either a 30 minute walk or what we found to be rather an unreliable bus ride (sometimes we had long waits for buses). Suggestion - get day cards (4€) or 3-day travel cards (11€).
Other problem, the railway which runs behind the house. It does generate noise.
I would not recommend the hotel for people who have difficulty walking. The road outside the hotel doesn't have a pavement and it's on a slope.
I would generally highly recommend the Aurelia Residence as good value for money and suggest reserving directly with the Residence for the best rates.
